Asteroid Chassis Question

Post by lgehrig4 »

Actually, this question would apply to any chassis without pre-drilled mounting holes.

Got the chassis from RJ and I didn't realize until just now (started build yesterday) that it doesn't have holes for the mounting nuts.

In my experience I've seen chassis with threaded holes or with square holes that the nut clips into or where the mounting lip is folded to the outside.

For those who have used this chassis before, what did you do? I can't believe they are sold this way actually. Everything else is cut out, why not the mounting holes? Nice chassis otherwise.

Why not ask rj? Not that many of these chassis were produced I don't think.

I got the heavy duty chassis that were produced by Allynmey years ago.

I buy and/or use chassis that do not have the mounting holes. No problem determining if I want to drill 4 holes and use steel nut-inserts or pem-nuts.

On some chassis that are bent in mounting flange I may use long Fender style bolts and go all the way through just depends on how I'm feeling that day.

I figured it was a general question and that I also would receive a quicker reply here.

I will check Ace hardware to see if they have either the steel nut-inserts or pem-nuts you mentioned.

I was trying to find one of Allyn's chassis. Even emailed him but never got a reply.
