From what I can gather, it is about $25 per board ft. for 4/4 or 8/4. I would also imagine that shipping isn't too cheap.

C'mon, let us all know, how much such a wonderful cab would be about!
And yes - might be, that I'm seriously interested on one...

Thanks again to everyones positive comments. It is greatly appreciated.
Regarding price.. I really can't say how much this wood cost because it was shipped to me and I have no idea what the bill was.
Dartanion stated Kauri can cost $25 a board ft. but I am assuming these are prices in New Zealand. But remember shipping to the US is close to $300.
I checked with the US distributor for Kauri wood and he quoted me prices ranging from $125 a board ft and up for nice Kauri wood..
The bottom line is this is the most expensive wood I have worked with..
Sure glad I didn't screw it up...

This US distributor in Wisconsin lists it for $25/bdft for 4/4 and $32/bdft for 8/4. They also list outlets in various parts of the US.Distortion wrote: I checked with the US distributor for Kauri wood and he quoted me prices ranging from $125 a board ft and up for nice Kauri wood..

The prices listed on their website are for the lowest grade Kauri they carry.
Nicely figured pieces cost much more and are sold by quality and the amount of figure.
Highly figured boards are in excess of $100 per board foot. I had a very nice talk with the owner of the company you posted a link to. He was a great guy and it was him who quoted me the prices.

That's awesome.

From the look of thier wood mostly all have a neat look to spectacular I may just get me some of the $25 BF 4/4 (So long as it's solid and workable)and see what I can do with it.

I got an email response from them lickity split and prices per board ft. start at $25 and go up from there. They quoted me $60/bf for flamey boards. This is WAY MORE $$$ than any of the fancy woods that I have used for cabs. I got a killer deal on some Koa and highly flamed claro walnut at ~$20/bf. Still quite spendy.
From everything that I have read so far on the kauri is that the dried wood is very light weight and relatively soft. There is also about a half dozen or so luthiers that wrote commentary on how great the wood is for tonal applications. I may have to build a guitar with it and a speaker cab or two.

Good Job Larry
Excellent work as usual. Now it is obvious why I chose to build the KF Memorial head cabinet out of this material huh??????
Ultra rare and unique, just like Ken's inventions. I thought it was a fitting choice to honor the man.
The true mark of a woodworking craftsman is finding the hidden beauty in the wood and exposing it for all to see. You did a great job on this one..

Bob, thanks for the comments.
It was fun working with this wood. I also have another Kauri cabinet in the pipeline. It was from the same batch as this cabinet.
I must admit working with Kauri is a bit different from any other wood I have worked with. It is hard and soft at the same time. It cuts easily but takes forever to sand.. Tough but seems to dent rather easily.
But there is no doubt it has a glow or sheen no other wood I have worked with has.
