ANNOUNCEMENT! NJ AMPFEST

Post by HeeBGB »

Gentlemen,

I am holding another ampfest on Saturday January 28, 2006 in Kenilworth, NJ. There is no admission fee, just bring yourself , your friends and any gear you want to show off. Vintage, Boutique or homebrews are all welcome. Guitars, amps, speakers and effects or you could just show up to see what everyone else is playing. Time will be from 12 noon to about 6pm.

Directions: Garden State Parkway to exit 138. turn left at traffic light onto "BOULEVARD" (yes that is the entire name of the street. Not very creative but it is what it is.) Go about 500 feet and turn left at the light onto "Market Street. There will be a car wash on the left. Go to the end of Market street until you cannot go straight anymore and make a left onto "Colfax Ave". About 200 feet up you will see an orange sign for "Plating Products" on the left. Turn left at the sign into our driveway.
Address is: 840 Colfax Ave. Kenilworth, NJ 07033
Any further questions can be directed to me via email. Please include "AMPFEST" in the subject line!

Thank You

Greg

Hi Chris,

You may want to drive down with another guy. There is a guy from the 18 watt forum coming down from Syracuse.

Shoot me an email and if he's interested I will put you guys in contact.

I'll be there with a JTM45, Firefly, 36 Watt TMB, 18 Watt TMB, and probably a 4X12 G12-65 Marshall 1960 Cab.

Just a note for the guys planning on attending. I just got word that Bruce from Mission amps is sending a new prototype amp he has in the works. I am told it is a totally new design and will be around 18 watts. It is supposed to be a 1x12 combo. It should be here by Thursday I am told. I will post a complete review when it arrives!

More news!!

There is a good chance that Greg Levy will attend with his Snider NJ amp and several of his various Trainwreck models. I don't know which models he has but I know he used to own a Liverpool. I'll keep you guys posted if I hear more info. Should know more by tomorrow if he is coming.

I have just been told that Greg has stated he will attend with his Snider NJ amp. I do not know if he will be bringing any other amps in his collection!

Ampfest was a great time! 65 people and probably 100 amps!

4 rooms to hold them all and one 15,000 Square foot "thunder room" for the 100 watt superlead and 100 watt hiwatt. Those amps metered in at 120dB and 124dB respectively. The Hiwatt peaked at 126dB!

Go to www.18watt.com to see the full details with pics.

Hi Guy's,
I have returned home from Ampfest........I thought I would start by sending a BIG!!! THANK-YOU!!!! to Greg for Putting this event on,Helping me get a Hotel Room and some directions while I was takeing some laps around Newark airport!!!!!

Allnmey, Glad to hear you liked the Liverpool!!!

Now on to my thoughts on the amps that were there. My favorite was Greg Levy's Snider amp(new Jersey) that amp was amazing!!!!!!! realy responded well to all the different guitars that were played through it.Loud as hell but cleaned up alright with the volume control.

Next was Jimmy Somma's Roaring 20's.......The workmanship on the look of that amp was realy nice!!!! and it sounded great as well, nice reverb circut.

I thought Mark H's Hiwatt clone was awsome.......That thing is loud as helll!!!!!! I think I herd him hear in Henrietta this afternoon playing it!!!!!!
:D

As for the homebrews, I liked Allnmey's jtm45 and 36 watt.........Gerg's Express and 45 clone w/6v6's were also very nice.........so many amps it was hard to get to hear them all!!!!!

I had a great time!!!! so many great amps and great Guitar players as well!!
Thanks again Greg!!!!!!

There was a thread on 18watt.com about the ampfest that I started reading last night. Can't seem to find it this morning. Must have been lost during the security issue they had on their site?

18 watt got hacked over the weekend and they reverted back to the last known working backup which was the day before ampfest.

I'll see what I can do.
