You will hear differences like that rolling current production tubes. IMO the thing is there is more variation in modern tubes, but good ones compare favorably with NOS.beasleybodyshop wrote:Less noisy to my ear. to not sound passe or cliche, it really feels like someone pulled the blanket off the top of the amp. I swapped it around in a few of my amps, and could actually hear an appreciable noise difference and clarity wherever I stuck it.martin manning wrote:How did they sound better? Quieter (less noise)? Re: funny voltages on my rocket
Yeah Ive been really happy with the cache I acquired recently. I rolled a few around in my blackface twin reissue, my mes boogie express 5:50, marshall jmp clone, express, and rocket - Definitely quieter, me likey.martin manning wrote:You will hear differences like that rolling current production tubes. I also scored several Mullard IEC 12AT7s - and i find that i actually like my express amp with one in V1 so much more than a 12AX7martin manning wrote: How did they sound better?
