Triodeelectronics.com kit?
I was doing some research into what transformers to get for the Express build I've started to gather parts for (so far I have a Dirty Dawg chassis and some Flamed Maple for the cab, not much but it's a start), when I stumbled upon this kit from TriodeElectronics.com.

So I'm wondering if anybody has heard of or done business with these guys? It looks like they have good components in this kit and the price doesn't seem too terribly bad.
Opinions?

I've purchased from them.
I built a pair of Mk III with their chassis and old iron.

I buy from Triode all the time.
I used their Express transformers on one Express builds good iron but very large PT compared to other brands.
They have a good selection of kits and chassis.

Cool, thanks for the replies. I think I may just go ahead and order their kit later on, maybe when I get my Christmas bonus. I know I could save a few bucks if I did a little scrounging, but since it's my first scratch build, it'd be nice to have all the internal parts I need in one kit.
I'm going to have a hard time making my mind up about whether to go with Mallory 150s or Sprague Orange Drops. I like to use Orange Drops in my guitars, but I hear good things about the Mallory 150s too.......hmm......

That's a cool shot of the Dynaco MkIII.
Re: Triodeelectronics.com kit?
I bought a A470-S transformer from Triode for a Rocket build and I am happy with it.
Re: Triodeelectronics.com kit?
I like the triode/classictone transformers. Last PT I bought was a hammond (because it was on sale) and it has a slight hum to it and got lacquer flakes everywhere from the wires (which caused some arcing until I found a flake on a power tube socket). I'm going back to Classictone.

Similar to a Ceriatone in several aspects. The layout and the schematic are the same as most Wrecks and they are using all modern production parts. They have the same problem as other major manufacturers in that there is no reliable source for significant quantities of vintage tubes or other components. I'm not sure why they would choose to use a stamped steel chassis rather than aluminum but I expect you can make a decent sounding amp... ymmv

Yup I used an aluminum chassis. Not sure about the steel chassis option jury is still out. I like your chassis though rj.

Re: Triodeelectronics.com kit?
The kit doesn't include the chassis and tubes are optional (JJs), which is fine because I already have a blank aluminum chassis and I don't really want JJ tubes except for their 12AX7 in the PI position, but I already have a few of those laying around anyway. If anything, I'll probably try my usual preamp cocktail of Tung-Sol 12AX7 reissues with a JJ in the PI, and try a pair of Mullard EL-34 reissues in the poweramp.RJ Guitars wrote:Similar to a Ceriatone in several aspects.
