I wonder if my dovetail jig will make finger joints with proper bit and guide bushing?
I like pine. It smells good when you work it.

I think most will.
Pine may smell nice, but it was a major PITA to work with. I had to constantly worry about burnouts, especially with the finger joints. It also scratches like nothing. Set it down, and bang, there is a scratch or mark.
However, it was free and on hand.

You'ld be right about the PIA bit. I'm building three cabinets using Leo's '50's style narrow panel plan. Two are for 12" and one is a 4-10". I've got one of the 12" cabs covered but am waiting for Tee nuts for the baffles to finish it up.Munga wrote:Man, your gonna have to give me some tolexing tips and advice when I get ready to head that route. Have you done layout on a light table? Where you splice two drawings together? That's part of the technique. The corners require an angle cut through the fold. Like when you wrap a package for under the tree, but you cut through the corner with a razor knife. New blade often. Anyway, wth the spray adhesive already on the fabric and the cabinet the corners will lay in there nice.
Practice with paper on a cardboard box.

Jim who owns Southbay did a couple of very detailed tutorials regarding tolex application and cabinet refinishing. They are on the Gear Page.
Here is a link to one of them.. http://www.thegearpage.net/board/showth ... x+tutorial
