That's correct. Andy Fuchs, Two Rock, Top Hat, and others have made quite a few amps from certain unprotected designs, and they are still in business. It's too bad Mr. Dumble didn't sell all those amps himself. I certainly enjoy the clones I built for myself. The Top Hat clone I played was absolutely awesome. The Two Rock was bland in comparison, but still a great amp. My opinion is that all the info is out there amongst the DIY crowd. A single place to share it would be good to have it. Some of us have promised induvidual owners that we would protect certain things about the amps we have seen. My understanding is that Mr. Dumble had contracts with the people he built the amps for, and protecting them and their agreement with him is not unreasonable. I don't think there are any real secrets about the amps, just induvidual tweeks and mods that some find useful.

I would be the Jed over at the sloclone forums and I can say that I haven't had one email from mikey or anyone affiliated with his company yet. Legally there's nothing he can do as I drew the layouts and most of the schematics.

I promise to never allow the equipment to be opened, analized...
Man, this must mean some people are analizing his amps. No wonder he doesn't want people opening them up...

I've got a chassis to build one of these if anyone's interested. I'm not going to have the time to build one.

I'll need to think about the Dumble issue over Christmas break. I'm not sure if I would build one but I am interested in discussions about them.

russoloco - Welcome to the forum. I've lurked over on your board and you guys have done a nice job with the SLO layouts and info. I don't think you have to worry about Mike. Bill at Soldano I believe has been quoted as saying that they don't mind cloners for personal use.

I also have a SLO chassis from Weber that I'm not using if anyone is interested. Mine is an irregular in that the back is cutout wrong so the IEC power socket is on the same end as the input jack. No paint, just bare stainless steel. There a little bit of rust that can easily be taken off with steel wool.

HS! I went to that one Dumble site with all the pictures. It had a scan of the D price sheet. I almost fell out of my seat. Get this. For Customer service, up to 10 minutes on the phone costs $200 then $15 a minute for every minute after. Do you F'ing believe this guy?

From what I understand Mr. Dumble has far more to worry about than people saying his name. he can't sue you for talking about an un-pattented design (Well not since western electric anyway!) so feel free. I am happy to contribute everything I've found on the net.
Yeah really. Is big D really gonna care that much abouit a few DIYers on a forum somewhere when those guys are making big bucks off his 'designs'.
