Grounding Question

Post by strato17 »

Gentleman,

Please excuse my lack of knowledge, as I am purely a mooch off all of your knowledge. I have been gigging out with my Express and Rocket build a ton and loving it. However, I have been having some problems with the input jack and pot grounds. I tightened up my pots and jack to ensure a good connection with the chassis for ground, which did fix my problems.

However, I was wondering If I could ground my input jack to the bus bar, then ground the bus bar to one of the screw/lug ground connections on the chassis. Will this create any loops or problems? Once again, please excuse my lack of knowledge! I just want to have a better/more reliable ground connection.

thanks!

Sounds like the easiest fix would be to put star washers between the pots / jack & the inside of the chassis.
I have seen input jacks grounded at the bus too.
Grounding is part science, part black magic.
Merlin Blencowe has some good info - google valvewizard freewebs.
Good Luck!
