What would you do with this?

Post by gktamps »

Hello,

I picked up a Dynakit ST-70 for $10 at a yard sale recently, with the chassis rusted, the caps obviously no good, and the circuit board covered in years of dust, but nothing is burned or obviously bad, the transformers look rust-free, and the wire insulation looks good.

So, is it sacrilege to yank the transformers and build a Rocket with the A470 OT, or should I rebuild the Dynakit?

Cheers,

Greg

Damn nice deal.....

The ST-70's are nice, but I'd yank the A-470 and build a Rocket. But hey, that's just me.

If you have no use for a hifi power amp, or the desire to rebuild it and sell it. If you want a Rocket and the leads are long enough. Harvest it.

OK - thank you for those suggestions. Sounds like a Rocket build may be the way to go with this.

I believe the outputs can be summed to mono, then you can reuse the whole chassis, and just pull the input board.

You'd only have add a TMB input section.

Very nice iron indeed and can be used for 30w or 60w use.
