Ready for gigs
Finally done. The cabinet is a JTM60 Marshall cabinet that I gigged with for years loaded with Celestion Heritage 30's. I built the head cabinet to match. The faceplate and front panel are made of Zebrawood. My cabinet guy was too busy to build me a cabinet so I get all the credit this time.
I added another 47uF to B+2 and my ghosting is under control.

Re: New Liverpool - Judy Jean
Thanks gents. It took a lot of help, both direct and indirect. There is so much info here if you look long enough.
I went with Tolex this time to make it more gigable. I will be ordering some custom fit padded covers next week that will give me a reasonable amount of protection and not weigh a ton.
I'll build a half-power Rocket next year and my collection will be complete... at least on this side of the aisle.

That is looking great... would love to hear some sound clips if you ever get the chance.
Did you ever conquer that ghosting problem? I'd be curious what you found.

I'll try to post some clips over the weekend. The ghosting is greatly reduced. I added another 47uF to B+2.
Re: New Liverpool - Judy Jean
Cool looking amp for sure and......congrats.
Curiosity on the ghosting... I know you tagged on some additional capacitiance on B2. Did you try reflowing before adding it?

Re: New Liverpool - Judy Jean
I didn't reflow anything, but I was very careful with the soldering. I used a lot of light and a 4X Optovisor so I could really see what was going on. I noticed on my last build that I could see better detail in the photos than I could with my reading glasses, so I upgraded so I could see what was going on as I did it.
Re: New Liverpool - Judy Jean
Hi sorry for the late posting on thist thread. But did you ad the additional cap by paralleling the existing cap?
Whats now the full capacity at B+2. 80µF like B+1?

No worries Hans-Jörg. Yes, I paralleled the additional cap, so now it is something like 87uF. In my opinion, it is just what it needed, just enough to get rid of the ghosting without making it too stiff.

Btw. I´ve done the same at my 5E3 clone. When I remember right, because of the same reason. But I added only half capacity. I was`nt so taff like you to dubble
nice week end

I'm new to this forum so wading thru' earlier posts and responding where I think I can contribute.
Ghost notes are modulation effects when the signal currents from one stage interact with the signal currents in another place.
the usual causes are either
1) In sufficient bypass caps on a power supply rail
AND/OR
2) bad grounding such that return currents from 2 different places share the same piece of wire back to the 0V point.
Cheers,
Ian
