Didn't Ken work for Ampeg during the SVT, V2 and V4 era? Maybe that had an influence?

Take a look at the Bassman AA864 schematic--see any similarities? Leave out the normal channel and tweak the bass channel and you're there.

AB165 version.....
(the AA864 is about the last version with just 2 gainstages from top of my head)
