Cool. I don't know the details of Trainwrecks but is the perfboard shown in the picture on that site the 'no longer available' perfboard or not? Color looks lighter.

Never heard of the Triggs amps but they look kinda cool. Anybody know anything about them? Bet it's a deceivingly heavy amp.

Both kinds of perfboard used in Ken's amps is extinct. There has been people that have found some in old electronic shops that has had it sitting around on shelves for the past 15 years. I have checked into getting it made but the phenolic isn't available any more either. The push-in terminals Ken used are also extinct.

There is a thread on the gear page about Dave's pictures. The two top pictures on his page are of a rocket named Malou. The gut shot labled Malou_3.jpg is really a Liverpool and not a Rocket.

hi Fischerman,

i think it's not a KF board.

it's misleading because he starts that section with a pic of a KF rocket.

I don't know if you can get phenolic perfboard, but I get my phenolic from here: http://www.usplastic.com/catalog/search ... ic&x=0&y=0

I split the price with a friend. The shipping was fast too.

Also, I just found this at DigiKey: http://dkc3.digikey.com/PDF/T071/P1840.pdf
It looks like the same stuff. It looks like they have the terminals as well.

It is in fact a TW board, just not what we are use to seeing in some of the older amps. The hole spacing is different on the amp pictured but was available off the shelf years ago. It would appear Ken used both. Ken was supposed to have supplied all of parts and Dave built 5-6 of these for Ken when he got sick. Definately missleading though as it is not a Rocket as pictured in the first two pics. It also looks like he used turrets in the board in the picture instead of the push-in terminals.

The phenolic needed to accurately manufacture the perfboard needs to be 3/32" thick xxx grade phenolic. The companys that use to manufacture it actually "Punch" the holes instead of drilling them and anything over 3/32 won't work for their process. Trust me when I say I contacted every manufacturer that use to make it. After waiting months, none of them could reproduce it. None of the terminals listed on DigiKeys page are the exact ones that Ken used.

Guys, check out the cap/trimpot combo, which looks to be in parallel with the second stage plate resistor! Apparenty its there to tame highs.

Any guesses as to the value of the cap? Also, it looks to be a liverpool, correct?

I was wondering what the trimpot was for...I completely missed that little ceramic cap.

What's the extra resistor on the Presence pot? Is it possibly a Presence circuit like the later Marshalls that put a 22K pot in parallel with the ground resistor?

Thanks. I have seen that thread. US Plastics has many kinds of phenolic from 1/16" to 1/8". I like the 1/8" a lot and have made many amps using it. It is very sturdy.

I guess the issue is if you want to be completely "authentic" or just build a nice amp.

One of those drilling templates that Hoffman sells would be nice, but I am not paying $100.
