Asteroid electrolytic cap values

Post by PB Wilson »

So I'm seriously considering building up this amplifier, but I'm trying to source parts from as few vendors as possible and to (hopefully) source parts locally.

My local source has 10uF, 22uF, and 100uF electrolytics for the filter section.

How much difference will it make to sub these for 8uF, 20uF and 80uF caps in the Asteroid? I realize that many caps have large variability and the point may be moot, but what changes might I see or hear in a completed amp?

Thanks, especially for sharing the schems and layouts so long ago. 8)

Almost none. Like you said the variance is high enough in your standard electrolytics to where that small of a change isn't noticeable (even the 80uF to 100uF isn't a dramatic change).
