Train Wreck "Trudy"
Hi, my mother is "Trudy" for whom Kenny named an amp for. She's old and very ill and I'm just wondering if i can learn anything about the amp that Kenny was nice enough to name after her. Our family spent many holidays at ther neighbor's next door and I knew Kenny and his mother. So, if anyone can fill in a bit of the history, I'd be very appreciative.

Re: Train Wreck "Trudy"
Wreckboy owned the amp. He posts here sometimes, or maybe send him a PM. Super nice guy. Knows alot about the wrecks. He can probably tell you about how the amp sounded etc..
The other info or measured values of the amp was Posted by Brian Wallace. He may have some other info.
Look up wallace amplification.

Express model, el34 or 6v6 output tubes. Has a stancor 3801 output transformer. Cherry cabinet with a train wood burned into the control plate. Built in 1985.
anything worth doing, is worth doing right

Yes that would be correct, the OT has been changed, Wreckboy still has the old OT from that amp. I'm sure he has all the info about the amp. I'll let him do all the verifying of things with it.M Fowler wrote:https://tubeamparchive.com/viewtopic.ph ... ight=trudy
Re: Train Wreck "Trudy"
Aloha, Richie sent me a pm "heads up" about Trudy.
Yes, I owned Trudy in the early 90's for about 3 years.
That Express was my first Trainwreck, I bought it from a chiropractor who lived on the island of Kauai. He was a big time collector of acoustic and electric instruments, including vintage and boutique amps.
I paid the fair market price. I was blown away when I first played it.
Within a few seconds I knew this was truly everything that it was supposed to be...great tones all at the twist of the volume knob! Never heard anything like it.
Anyway, fast foward, Ken suggested an upgrade for Trudy, with a newer output transformer, I believe he did a little other work on it (filter cap?).
Unfortunately, I sold Trudy to fund a purchase another Wreck purchase....strange and too long a story...I used the funds to buy back my favorite Wreck (Charlie Four Star).
Back to Trudy....that Express was a very "friendly" amp.....loved every guitar, pickups, speakers and tubes....not a fussy amp at all. Even after the upgrade the amp still had it's inherit tone ....bluesy/classic rock heaven.
Great gigging amp because you could play it at lower volumes (the volume taper was very smooth) with pedals or an attenuator. That amp had the cool "choo choo train work burn faceplate.
Let me know if there are any other particular question about that amp.
Aloha,
Wesley
