Dead, dead, dead.

Post by RockinLocken »

:( Went to fire it up today. Nada, zip, total sadness.

B+1=-292?neg?
B+2=-293?neg?
B+3=282
B+4=265
B+5=252

V1 pin#1 @198
V2 pin#1 @238
V3 pin#1 @184
V4 pin#3@ 362, pin#6-292
V5 pin#3@ 362, pin#6-291

Any clues to where I screwed this up? Thanks folks.

Those voltages look seriously out of wack. The Kelly '90 schematic shows expected voltages starting at 395 (pos) on B+1. It seems like perhaps you might need to check and recheck the power supply board, in particular, the diode and cap orientations.

If B+1 and B+2 are negative then I would suspect that at least the second to last cap is wired backwards. Probably the last one, too.

Good luck!

Dead, dead, dead. Almost alive.

Thanks guys. Forgot to ground the caps on the power board. Voltages coming. Bias around -25. I think I'll change out the 220 to a 180.

Thanks a million to all.

Got it bias'd. This thing is loud! LOUD! Prefect outdoor amp. Swapped out the El34's to the 6V6's I had from another amp. Beautifully loud. Still need to try it with the tele & strat yet. Need to shield the bottom and try some more tubes. Any recommendations?

Special thanks to Omar for the forum and all the folks here for helping out and of course KF.

Is there a cure for this disorder?
