"The Mezitone" (Rocket build)

Post by geekmacdaddy »

My childhood friend needs an amp to match his skills on guitar, and for the wonderful funk band he plays in, so I'm building him "The Mezitone" (his last name is Mesibov). I need to wire the OT, AC cable, and dropping resistors, and I'm done. Here's the progress;

Great lookin' amp! Very cool faceplates! Nice work!

I would think a rocket would be perfect for funk...great "scratchy-chimey-chord" amp.

The final product. Playing it now....chime, swirl, beef...it's all there. I think my friend will be pleased.

That looks awsome Geek. 8) I'll bet you and your childhood friend wished you had one of those when you both were kids and learning those skills. :D

The MEZiTONE, with vol at 4 (very fucking loud, but there was a lot of growl and volume to be had past 4) on my venerable strat. I didn't use a pick so you can better hear the dynamics of the amp. Thanks Rhinson, Ron Worley, Richie, Allyn and Dale. You too, Darin.

'nuther clip, using my "British Ball Breaker" on the first half of the clip, and my "Geek-Screamer" on the 2nd half.

Hmmmm lots of views, little love from the Amp Garage. Does it sound crappy and you all are being polite? Did I fuck up the build? Does it look crappy and you don't wanna say?. Oh well. I think it sounds amazing. I was all excited to share here, as I don't normally have much to contribute in the area of Trainwreck and Dumbles. Onward and inward.

Haha, not at all. In fact, those clips made me want to Rocket even more. I was a little bit scared of building one but now I'm almost positive its whats I want. And at the end of the shorter clip, was that a pedal or natural overdrive? And did you change anything in the circuit from an original Rocket?

I think it looks and sounds wonderful, I'm sure whoever you built it for will love it, I know I would.

Thanks Strat Ad!
The end of that shorter clip is just the amp, no pedals. There's a lot more where that came from, as the amp was on 4 and 1/2 volume. More gain and volume on tap, from that point. It's not a difficult build, and I kept it all stock. The only liberty's I took were the CDE coupling caps . If you were on the fence, I say build it. It's all I can do to let this amp out of my hands.

:D
