Richie and I have been asked for a long time to post some clips of the Express clone he built and the Liverpool (Ginger) clone that I built. Richie finally made it to the studio last weekend and recorded these. All of these clips were recorded using a Mesa Boogie Single 12 cab and a SM57.
1st up is Richie's Express (A little George Lynch for the kids )
You know...I could picture Richie with frosted hair (weak George Lynch reference)
I like the 'Pool clips I think it sounds a lot like mine..from the clips I can gauge a little bit of that amps responsiveness and character. I love my Liverpool!
that would be grey hair for the frosting..
After you do things like this...i see or hear alot of things that should have been done different. Sometimes you get carried away with doing alot of cranked files.
And not any of the cleaner stuff. Should have used a 4x12 too.. most of the files were made a bit more cranked volume than i'd probably normally use.
Since the amps were in one room, and the 1x12 was in the other room, behind a closed door.. you couldn't really tell what was going on..unless you walked into the room with the cab.
At first i used Mooses trannys..then tried some different ones. the junkyard also uses different trannys. The bad thing is both of those have not been measured yet..So all i know is they are OTs from amps that used EL34's
Dana has a bigger file of the Jumkyard..more of a cranked blues clip.
I'm still experimenting with different OTs..i have about 4 now to try.
Plus Dana has his Express we can compare mine to,Dans has Moose's set in it.
