I just took a look at the stock material. There is no red on blue. But, there is reverse-engraved blue that etches to clear. The lettering can be filled with red paint (krylon spray paint works). Take a look at LZR-904 here:

So let me see if I have this straight. The material is blue, and when they laser etch the letters, those areas end up clear? How clear? Like plexi material? The reason I ask is that I might be able to spray the back of the plate red and then the red would show through for the letters. I used clear plexi materials for plain faceplates before, and painting the back looke really glossy and nice. It seems like masking off the etched letters so that I could spray the front would be a real bear. Or am I missing the whole point here?
Re: Logo nameplate needed
They are quite clear but not as shiny as plexi. The are engraved from the back, so yes, you pain the back. Here's an example of such:

The look very nice! You simply use masking tape to protect the edges of the panel and do a couple coats of spray paint on the back.

That is nice.
So the red paint in my case would cover the entire back, but since only the letters were etched out, that would be the only area for which the red would show through to the front? No masking around the letters needed - just at the edges as you mentioned? Sounds easy enough, even for me.

So the blue/clear that you mentioned seems to make the most sense. That will give me a blue background,a nd my coat of red on the back will give me the red lettering.
