Last Trainwreck

Post by Blinkie »

The "Last" Trainwreck is at Lark Street...The Rocket that was on Kenny's bench was finished and it not for sale I hear. They said it was 80% done but from memory it was a lot less but who knows. Kenny didn't finish it or voice it so to me it ain't a true wreck. The logo isn't correctly lined up so if that is any indication of the work inside..What's it worth?

A few wrecks have changed hands in the past few months at prices in the 30's and 40's.

30-40 thousand could build alot of rockets not voiced by ken. Legally it is a trainwreck and can be sold as one. Ken didn't build them all but did voice them all. Sound to me like the last rocket is missing one important step.

It's worth what someone will pay. I'm sure because it's the last one a collector will pick it up for top dollar.

It may be worth MORE money than other 'Wreck, but not necessarily because it will sound better. It's probably more of a museum piece than a players amp.

If Ken didn't finish it, tube it or voice it then I wouldn't call it a true Wreck either, and its value should be correspondingly less.

It wasn't the last Trainwreck, it was essentially a pile of bits that Ken had been beginning to assemble.

The more I think about it. This wreck is about as much a trainwreck as any of us build on here. If Ken didn't build every wreck himself by hand Does that mean when I build mine using vintage parts it to will be a True wreck? It will as close.

It's sort of a touchy line to cross yes Ken touched the last amp but not the way that made it a true tw. Though just by being assembled it is legally a tw.

I would venture to suggest that a number of builders here can build a far truer 'Wreck' than this guy with a bunch of Ken's old parts.

The mojo doesn't come from the guy that supplied them, if you know what I mean.

you guys never fail to disappoint. to offer advice, without listening is foolish! I think Buzzy knew what he was doing, considering he had the first Trainwreck, now the last, as for any of you building a better Trainwreck? please.

i'll be able to answer this question in a couple months. I've got all date code correct parts, bud chassis, vector board, flea clips, caps, pots, iron, wire, cinch sockets and a stash of NOS tubes to voice with. I've been collecting these parts for years and i'm finally to the point that i can build one without having to make compromises. this will be a good test... is it just parts that equal the TW mojo or is there more to it?

Then instead of just hyping this 'clone that isn't really just any old clone' up, why not back it up with some substance?

Let's see it, and let's hear it.

Or go and find some other suckers to try to flog this thing to, because you're preaching to the wrong crowd here.

Yeah, no shit! Get your lazy ass to Lark Street Music, Teaneck, NJ and play/listen to the amp, then make your "insightful" response.

Why don't you have it brought to the NY amp show and we can put it up against some other clones like itself. I personally wouldn't drive from WV to NJ just to try out a clone.

Since it is not on theier website, and it is a long drive from Seattle, can someone detail more of what this is?

It sounds like a "mostly" finished Rocket built by Ken. Lark St. bought it in unfinished form and then who finished and voiced it? How much do they want for it? Anyone near Lark St. that can go play it?
