faceplate help!!
ok, i have a faceplate made and its down to 1/8th of an inch i just cant figure out how to get it on. The pots' posts are to short to put the bolts on over top of the faceplate and i dont want to make the holes bigger. Should i just thin the plate down more??

Re: faceplate help!!
You can do that or buy some PEC or Clarostat pots. Prbably should anyways for an heirloom project like this!
When to pass this down a couple of generations the pots probably won't be scratchy that way!

I agree with Allynmey's answer (get some military clarostat pots). But, if you really don't want to do that, you can drille the holes bigger in the faceplate and seat the pots against the chassis instead of the face plate. The knobs will still hide the holes and the switches and jacks on each end of the plate will still hold it in place. I woud add some double sided tape between the chassis and plate just to be sure.

Re: faceplate help!!
playloudd308,
I had the same problem. You can keep your Alphas -- Simple fix is to countersink the front of the faceplate with a forsner bit. Be Vewy Cawefuw!!! You only need to go down about half way. Or, you can use a Dremel router to do the job, if you have one. Works like a charm.
The countersink diameter should be just a little bigger than the washers. Your knobs should cover the holes up just fine.
