Do you think there is a market....

Post by glasman »

Do you guys think there is a reasonable market for these type of amps. Not that I need more work. But I have received several requests for a wreck inspired amp and I am wondering if it is worth the time and expense to get a small run of chassis's built up.

Two rock tried and gave up. Seems like the Komets fair pretty well.

I know this is a builders forum, but was just curious....

Sure there is a limited market for TW style amps.
But as a builder I would have to wonder if it would really be worth the time and effort.
When you speak of the Two Rock issue, they went into the Ruby arena and gained a bit of negative attention with rumors of reverse engineering of an original Trainwreck amp. In retrospect this was probably not the best way to start a new line of amps. On the other hand the folks at Komet have enjoyed a pretty thriving sales of their amps, but in my opinion their relationship with Ken gives their amps credibility that other clones will not have.
Needless to say this is just my opinion :D

Not to mention Andy Fuchs' "Train 45" product.
Wife: How many amps do you need?
Me: Just one more...

And from what I can tell, Andy seems to be doing ok with the 45.

Well this is kind of what I was thinking.

I also agree here, the relationship with Mr. Fisher definately lends credibility to the product line.

I appreciate the comments.

Yep, I started building cabinets for myself because "Custom Builders" wouldn't build what I had in my head, or they wanted way too much money.
I occasionally build cabinets for other guys who are looking for hardwood cabinets. I really like bringing different woods together in an attempt to make what I call functional art.
I am not much to brag about regarding electronics, but I can build a decent cabinet..
And one good thing is I still have all my fingers..
