Re: Clones, what's the best?
I can't claim to have played more than a couple of Wreck clones. But I do own a real Express, Liverpool, the original Prototype, the DLM, and Ken's experimental Komet. I know what they sound like and "feel" like. I've played them for years and years....at rehearsals, jams, gigs, and concert settings...

Thumbs Up to Richie!
Aloha, I've been playing an Express built by Richie Hall, and wanted to post a public Thumbs Up. I've been playing this amp for about a month. The amp sounds great and Richie is great guy to work with. I feel confident that I can retire my Trainwreck Express from active live performances...with the ...

Re: Train Wreck "Trudy"
Aloha, Richie sent me a pm "heads up" about Trudy. Yes, I owned Trudy in the early 90's for about 3 years. That Express was my first Trainwreck, I bought it from a chiropractor who lived on the island of Kauai. He was a big time collector of acoustic and electric instruments, including vintage and b...

Re: Tonal difference in cabinet versus out.
No snake oil here....just stating what I heard...without a preconceived notion of this. If fact, Ken laughed when I told him what I heard. He ment this in a positive way! Try it yourself.....play the chassis outside of the cabinet and then play it loaded in the cab. I heard the difference. Livelier,...

Re: Tonal difference in cabinet versus out.
Has anyone noticed the tone change when they installed their express into a cabinet built to original specs. Mine seemed to darken up a tad. Or am I imagining things ? Could the cherry be serving to dampen out the chassis and cut out some of the microphonic trebly side of the beast ? I have to say ...

Re: Brand New Trainwrecks?
Reality Check was a nickname for his Rocket........he used it as reference a standard for tone. I remember hearing a couple of great sounding amp...then he would play his Rocket.....Reality Check! The Rocket was a tone machine.

Re: Dusting Off Old VHS and Converting to DVD Clips
Great playing and tone!! What is that silver box sitting on top of your TW amp? JR That's my Trainwreck Airbrake....Alessandro built and Ken tweaked it. Unfortunately I didn't video many performances where I thought the Wreck was at it's best. The Greg Perry and Friends clip was just a fun session....

Re: Dusting Off Old VHS and Converting to DVD Clips
Wreckboy that was great. Not sure which was better the music or watching your guitar face, aloha. 8) Mark I think Santana said," Your Tone is in your face" Hmmmmmm I always thought it was in my Wreck (laugh) Before I ever saw footage of my favorites like BB King, Hendrix, and Santana....I always th...

Dusting Off Old VHS and Converting to DVD Clips
Aloha, just went through some old VHS tapes of live performances that I'm converting to DVD. Thought you guys might be interested. Sitting in with friends of mine...playing a funky version of "All Blues" PRS Custom 24 Duncan Pickups, Trainwreck Express, Airbrake, Carvin Cab with Greenbacks(cab was n...

Re: Old Demo Recordings From the Early 90's
Maybe you listened to the Ronnie Montrose recording of "Town Without Pity" once or twice? My producer told me to write a song like "Town Without Pity". I knew that song because Ronnie Montrose covered that song on his solo album "Open Fire". I'm a big fan of Ronnie Montrose and I LOVED that song! I...

Re: Old Demo Recordings From the Early 90's
Thanks for the positive comments
Unfortunately, I never got to record my Wrecks......also, those recordings were done at relatively soft volume levels. I don't think I could have recorded the Wrecks at the home studio at those kind of volume levels.
Maybe someday

Old Demo Recordings From the Early 90's
Aloha, these are old demo tapes that I dug up and had captured on digital format. Recorded with an Soldano SLO (I got to meet Mike while I was in LA....very cool guy). These were recorded just before I got my first Wreck. Ken loved the playing and the compositions but didn't care much for the tone. ...

Re: Komet modded by Ken on eBay
Trainwreck Experience #5 At some point after I got my Liverpool, Ken played the "original" Dirty Little Monster for me over the phone. As I remember, he mentioned the amp in his Trainwreck pages. It was a little Fender (Champ?) that he totally "NUKED". Wow, what was that, he told me it's a amp calle...
