Dr ZWreck is basically an AC30 with a top notch Compressor
I had the chance to demo back to back the Dr Z Wreck and a UK AC30 Top Boost with a Compressor pedal. To my ears, and the store workers....it sounded 99 percent alike. Now I'm not all into circuits and don't know much about anything regarding that, but is there a technical reason why this was my exp...

Paul Ruby Express.
Can anyone tell me a little about these? Are they faithful to the original?
How much do these usually sell for new from Ruby himself? Does he still make them?
Here is the one I am looking at.

From a building stand-point, do Two Rock Amps......
have the craftsmanship and parts (transformers, caps, ec) that corresponds with the hefty (5000 and up) price tag? By all accounts, they are somewhat of an industry standard as far as boutique of the boutique builders go. Just want to see if fellow builders and such think they're "all that" from a t...

Re: '66 Fender Blackface Bassman - Cost of Mods
I put new 12ax7 tubes just before I fired it up.
The power tubes are old, however.
It might need a cap job, though I do not know for sure how to tell if it does or doesn't.

Re: '66 Fender Blackface Bassman - Cost of Mods
Guys, I just plugged my Bassman in and fiddled around with it cranked (earplugs and all) and I was kind of taken back by the lack of gain on the amp. It has 12ax7 pre amp tubes for more gain, but still... It sounds NOTHING like this....and this is pretty much the exact same as my amp, AB165 circuit ...

Re: '66 Fender Blackface Bassman - Cost of Mods
Again, thanks.
If anyone can inform me of a master volume mod, that'd be great!

Re: '66 Fender Blackface Bassman - Cost of Mods
Ok, thank you.
I was thinking of putting a 12AX7 in the phase inverter stage instead of the 12at7 that is currently in there just to experiment, do you know if I can just swap them out or do they need to be biased?

'66 Fender Blackface Bassman - Cost of Mods
Hey guys, I recently dug out my old Bassman AB165 circuit and was wondering if the mods are "accurate" mods. For example, I know you can do a JTM45 thing in the Bass Chanell, does that mean it's virtually the same circuit and sound as an original JTM45? Also, this is important, do any of you know ro...
