Re: Nik from Ceriatone talks about their components.
Thanks for the feedback Mark and Amiga. It does make sense to me to "go with a kit" - then maybe tweak as inspired or motivated. I'm not a 'builder' really, like a lot of folks here, so it does make sense to start with something proven. Maybe after this build I'll feel more inclined to tackle more o...

ceriatone kit question
Greetings all, So this is probably a question I should ask Nik, but I think I'd like to ask one of you good folk who have actually ordered and assembled a Ceriatone kit. I am considering a TW Express kit. When I read the descriptions of the express kits ..( well, "Expression" kits), here: http://www...

Re: Another noob question about checking cathode bias..

Re: Another noob question about checking cathode bias..
As Homer Simpson would say "doh!"... Thanks all, for another helpful, patient reply. I feel pretty stupid for asking that, now that I understand, but I totally get it now. The current is already flowing to ground via pin 8. Adding this tiny resistor creates a "shunt" path, allowing a small percentag...

Another noob question about checking cathode bias..
Greetings and apologies in advance for a (probably) dumb question... So describing myself as a complete 'Noob' is not entirely accurate. I started dismantling electronics and electrical devices when I was about 8 years old ( circa 1965). I have been mercilessly abusing electric guitars since Jr High...

The dryer sheet thing totally works....
Hey HeeBGB, that is static build up on the pickguard. Usually worse in the dry winter time. Go to your laundry room and steel a fabric softener dryer sheet from the wife and then rub that all over the outside of the pickguard it should cure the static. You may have to rinse and repeat after a while...
