Re: 65amps Ventura cathode bias ?

Interesting comment from DB about how they run the 6v6's in the venture at 1:05:25.

ampeg j12t

Hey everybody I have a reissue J12T that I really like but I wish I could do a few things to it.

1. More headroom it starts to break up at around 3

2. A foot switch for the trem

3. A p to p board.

Has anyone done any of these things?

i've never had any issues with my ts re-issues even in the CF position of an 18watt tmb.

I got some great stuff from him just before Christmas. He did mention that things were very slow. Great guy.

Re: Super Reverb Variable tonestack lift

Isn't the 65 "Bump Circuit" a variable RAW control? Why do you suppose they do it on a 6 position knob with a resistor network?

Re: What's the mojo to the Hiwatt design?

What a great thread  It's got me wondering if this is one of Dan Bouls tricks at 65amps. Lil Elvis(el84), the Tupelo(6v6) and the SoHo(el84 w/ ef86 frontend) are all wonderfully clean sounding amps with a lot of headroom. Lift the tone stack (the "bump" circuit) and the amps get nice and crunchy.

russian tubes

I've been thinking about using the 6p14-ev's and 6n2p's in my next build. My only concern is they draw more current than el84's and 12ax7's. Here are some specs I found: http://www.russiantubes.com/prop.php?t=12&p=245 http://www.russiantubes.com/prop.php?t=12&p=246 http://www.russiantubes.com/prop.p...

Re: 65amps SoHo

Here is the bump circuit I've implemented on a few amps. It works very well. There are several threads on this on the Hoffman forum but for a novice like me they are somewhat esoteric and wandering. I wouldn't call any of the discussion esoteric, but wandering yes. That's because there were tons of...

Re: bump control

Anyone have an idea on how the bump controls work? switch, tone & level ? TopBrent, Thanks for the gut shots:) There are several threads on this on the Hoffman forum but for a novice like me they are somewhat esoteric and wandering. There are three things that make this amp attractive to me (besids...

65amps SoHo

Where does the SoHo fall in the Vox-Matchless spectrum? It's a nice sounding amp and one I'd like to try and emulate in a build. I like the idea of a single input ef86 and the bump circuit is kind of interesting. The 6 position rotary switch is for volume and not a tone notch like other Vox/Matchles...
