Re: mythical matchless transformers
Iv been through a few sets of MC trannies, good quality and very consistent. I wonder how much of a difference there is between the AC30 and DC30 xformers. I also keep reading that the magic is in the trannies for these amps.

Re: Strymon Big Sky
Strymon pedals are running those 333Mhz SHARC DSP processors. Impressive Id say.

mythical matchless transformers
Whats the deal with matchless transformers? Seems like you have a few companies out there that claim they are the real deal. Im looking for something good quality, and below the MM price range.

Ceriatone has an interesting "dizzy 30" layout..anyone ever build one? How does the rocket compare to the DC30?

Which clone to build..
Venturing out into British territory for the first time. Iv been looking at the variations of the DC30, AC30. I personally prefer the DC30 tone. Should I build a straight up DC30 clone, or are there any interesting variations out there?

Re: Pedal interaction with amps
The amp does well when it is being pushed with clean boosts. Surprisingly enough, the DR takes the Zoom G5/G3 multi-effects amp sims really really well. I have tried throwing OCDs, Timmys, skreddy fuzz pedals, and most of them sound up sounding raspy, nasaly, over processed.

Pedal interaction with amps
Iv been wondering what makes an amp circuit more pedal friendly. I built a DR based amp with no vibrato that sounds great, the dynamics and sensitivity is everything i want out of the amp. My only caveat is that it absolutely hates every single dirt/fuzz box i place in front of it. Amp is based on t...

Quick question about screen resistors
What is the appropriate power rating for 6V6 screen resistors? I have been seeing anything from 1W to 5W in schematics. Will 1W be sufficient? Also, someone had suggested bumping up the 470R resistors to 1K in a blackface style build for better reliability, thoughts?

Re: Tweed bassman rectifier
I picked up some JAN 5R4GAs to try out, also might give a 5U4GB depending on the results. Thanks for the suggestions!

Well that is interesting. The amp seems to be as loud as it should be now, but Ill go back and verify the NFB again.
