Traynor YBA-1-ish amp - PTP - Static/Ghost noise problem

Hi all- A few months back I purchased what may or may not be a Traynor YBA-1 prototype. Over the years many parts have been changed, so I'm zero concerned about authenticity, I just want it to run as well as possible. I've done work on it since I got it and cleaned it up fairly well. There's one lin...

Re: Good news = I got a 71 Bandmaster for $40! (Clips added)

OK. I have a game plan now. I've decided to gut the chassis and make it a 6G16 Vibroclone. I don't really care for SRV-angle so much, but I do love Brown Fender's, so this will be a fun project that'll yield an amp that I'll enjoy. It seems like my choice of the Allen OT will work out well, too. Any...

Re: Good news = I got a 71 Bandmaster for $40! (Clips added)

I have a few questions I was hoping you guys might be able to answer. This would be my first full overhaul on an amp if I strip this thing down. If I go to the trouble of doing that I'm not sure I'd want to just make it a Bandmaster Reverb since I just bought and serviced a 66 Super Reverb that's no...

Re: Good news = I got a 71 Bandmaster for $40! (Clips added)

So my Allen transformer showed up today and I had a few minutes to get it installed in the BMR. I brought the amp up slowly on the variac without power tubes, checked out voltages and stability and everything seemed fine. Did the same again with some old 6L6's and all went well so I start to check i...

Re: Good news = I got a 71 Bandmaster for $40! (Clips added)

Interesting find all right. Just curious but what makes you think it's a '71? The OT is clearly marked 606-616, which would be '76. Could be a replacement of course, what's the EIA code on the PT? Faceplate does look OK for early '70s though. Thanks for all of the feedback all! You are correct re: ...

Good news = I got a 71 Bandmaster for $40! (Clips added)

Hi all- Last night this amp popped up on CL and I couldn't resist. A dead silverface bandmaster for $40. I figured for parts alone it was well worth the 30 minute round-trip drive. It appears that the OT may be dead... Just got it open. It appears Lee Jackson "worked" on the amp at some point. It ha...

Re: Victor "Model 60" Projector/Amp - Advice please

Thanks for the feedback. Question - How would you proceed with this process if it were you? Would you gut the chassis and build in a new circuit from scratch? Remove individual components and reinstall them as you go? Draw some sort of layout, gut and rebuild things as they are now? I've never under...

Victor "Model 60" Projector/Amp - Advice please

Hi all- Today I scored an old projector with an integrated tube amp and an external speaker. I'm curious if you guys could take a look at it and give me your thoughts re: it becoming a serviceable guitar amp. I'll layout the basics: - Victor model 60 projector/tube amp - Tube compliment: 2 x 6L6, 5U...
