Re: 110v to 240v PT conversion

Part 2: OK, so I get the PT installed, (nice job if I do say so myself). Unfortunately there is still a trap for the novice!! I kept blowing fuses one after the other. No Power at all! :? I thought I had a ground issue or a bad tube at first. Then, I figured I'd better start doing some homework. .. ...

Re: 110v to 240v PT conversion

OK, all good.

+ White with black stripe is redundant.

+ Black is active (Violet on replacement MM PT)

+ White is Neutral (Black on replacement MM PT)

Correct me if you believe I am wrong.

Over and out :)

110v to 240v PT conversion

Hi, I have a question regarding the pending 110v to a Mercury Magnetics 240v PT conversion of my Lonestar Special. (actually two, but I'll get to the second one in a minute). I have successfully completed this procedure on two previous amps with no problems. I just want to check this one first. I ha...

Input/Output path?

Hi amp guru's!, I need some straightforward advice regarding a circuit I've hopefully attached. I'm introducing a post overdrive tone circuit to my amp's overdrive signal. I have cut the pre master amps' PCB circuit path and need to confirm exactly where I introduce the input signal from my amp to t...

Hot Rod Deville squealing

Hi guys, I have an issue where I have a high pitched squealing occurring in the "more drive" channel as I increase the gain, treble or middle. (pretty much anywhere past half way) I have found that, with the back panel off, the squeal will disappear completley when I place my finger on the ribbon ca...

Capacitor Voltage rating

Hi again, Hot Rod Deville Mod. I have had a great deal of trouble sourcing .022uF, 330pF and 47pF caps. The best I can do in Australia is ceramic 50V rating. Q. is a 50V rating adequate for a post overdrive tone stack circuit? Thanks for any help. :?: EDIT: Jumped the Gun!... I found what I was look...

Shielding the tube grid?

Hi people, I am in the process of installing a post overdrive tone stack to my amp and a very experienced tech I am getting advice from advised that I should shield the grids of specific 12AX7A tubes if I get oscillation. Please explain how I do that, as his technical correspondence is a little more...
