Re: Speakers (again - sorry) for a 2 x 12" / Express

Kenny liked the following... ...or mesa boogie ms-12 combined with an altec 4178c in a 2x12 open back Really? The MS-12 is IMHO one of the most god-awful speakers ever made. I guess speaker really are a personal thing. Also lucky I'm not trying to emulate what 'Kenny' liked. And yep, the ova...

Re: Speakers (again - sorry) for a 2 x 12" / Express

I've decided to try a Vintage 30 / G12H30 combo to start with. Seems like a good thing from the videos on the net and initial testing with a different cab.

The work of art is progressing...

Nah, it's a Kermit cab. The wreck was built by Barry M.

Wonderful gentlemen all. :D

Re: Speakers (again - sorry) for a 2 x 12" / Express

Cheers Mick. Read your post at AGGH, I'm a moderator there. I actually bought the wreck clone from Brad (Mr McCustomCabs). I'll have a look at the Essential Audio site.

Re: Speakers (again - sorry) for a 2 x 12" / Express

Thanks for the reply Jim. I just re-read my post an I hope you didn't think I was saying you guys (Souhbay / Scumback) were inflating the price. USPS appears to have been taken over by the Mafia. And UPS etc are worse. Can't for the life of me work out why it's half the cost for me to send st...

Re: Speakers (again - sorry) for a 2 x 12" / Express

Less then $100 would prob be eBay or possibly a demo from a speaker rep or over stocked dealer. Honestly most speakers start at $100+ and go up Yeah, I meant less than $100 shipping to Oz. Happy to pay good money for the speaker, but the shipping costs are a killer and seem to be stupidly inflated ...

Speakers (again - sorry) for a 2 x 12" / Express

I've read (just about all) the other speaker threads and understood the basic themes, but I still have a few questions... Here's the cab, being built by a real artist with wood (i.e. not me! ;-) )... Re: Let's have a little discussion about pickups.

I don't rate high output pickups into 'wrecks either. They don't need it. All my fav pickups are wound by Mick Brierley, http://www.brierleyguitarpickups.com.au/ . I particularly like my Bias Buckers, kinda like a Fralin Unbucker but wound to my specific design, but Mick can build anything you desir...

Re: Hello all. My Wreck is coming soon!

Yep. I know its history, and all the folks whos hands it's been through. Brad has given the cab a refresh so it's loking as good as new.

It will be back in Melbourne soon.

It's got serious mojo.
