Fender amp with reverb, and no vibrato...

First of all, why didn't Fender make one back in the day? Almost everyone uses verb, and I hardly see anybody use the vibrato. Anyhow, I am planing to build an amp soon. I want it to be a clone of a deluxe reverb, but without the vibrato. (to be able to make it more compact, and use less part...

Re: 1965 Pro Reverb: Driving me crazy!!!

Cathode bypass cap have been replaced, as well as the resistor.
The pop remains even when the bright switch off, and the volume pot all the way down. So this pop has to be coming from somewhere post-volume pot... Right?

Yes. That was the first thing I tried. Same results.

1965 Pro Reverb: Driving me crazy!!!

So a customer brought in a really nice, close to mint, 1965 fender pro reverb. He wanted an overhaul/3 prong power cord done due to some various pops and such. I replaced all the electrolytic caps with Sprauge. I also replaced all the power resistors in the power supply with adequate modern counterp...

Event Electronics TR5 Monitor Issue

A friend of mine brought by two TR5 studio monitors a few days ago. He said that they developed this terrible hum after a recent lightning storm. When power is applied to them (with no audio input) they hum. They continue to hum even if the power switch is turned off! Is there an obvious fix here? I...

Re: Fender Blackface Pro Reverb Troubleshooting Problem...

I did that, and it seems to be coming from (go figure) the vibrato channel. So now I have to check the preamp, vibrato, and reverb circuits... Whats the easiest way to sniff out where this is coming from?

Also, what about those voltages? Any thoughts as to why they are all high?

Re: Fender Blackface Pro Reverb Troubleshooting Problem...

With line voltage @ 121VAC:

A: 466v
B: 464v
C: 453v
D: 421v

Little higher than whats on the original fender schematic... What do you think is causing this? the higher line voltage? Do you think its related to the problem I am encountering?

Fender Blackface Pro Reverb Troubleshooting Problem...

I have an old fender blackface pro reverb on my bench right now. It was brought in for a re-cap and 3-prong power cord. I did all of this, but there is still a loud popcorn-like sound for the first couple seconds after the amp is taken off standby. The problem seems to be occurring around the phase ...

Re: Balanced line out using a op-amp? (sorry non-tube related)

selloutrr, Don't assume that because this is an "op-amp" that it is automatically amplifying. This particular circuit is simply acting as a buffer. This technique is used in many pedals today. If you put in a milivolt your gonna get a milivolt out. It has a unity gain factor. The purpose of this cir...

Re: Balanced line out using a op-amp? (sorry non-tube related)

I think I found something. Im gonna try It out and see what happens. Would it be safe to be running a pre-amp level into this? Or would that cause distortion?

Balanced line out using a op-amp? (sorry non-tube related)

Hello All, I am building a bass preamp and wanted to have a balanced output. Instead of using a transformer to switch from hi-z to low-z I was wondering if I could just do it with an op-amp (I have a NE5532 kickin around) First of all, is this possible? Secondly, what is the absolute simplest way to...

Re: Bass Tube Preamp Schematics?

thanks for all the input everyone.

P.S.
I am using a PA amp for my power-amp. Tube power-amps are too big and heavy for bass. (although I think peavey came out with a all tube bass head that incorporates a super light switch-mode power supply, very cool!)
