The hum does not really change as far as distance... But if I move the guitar from side to side it does reduce the amount of hum... If I sit just right it does become bearable. That is a very subjective answer on how many hours to build a Trainwreck as that depends if your are using a blank chassis or one from various suppliers with many holes drilled but not all.
