Re: first post - first build - TW LP

I asked Jim at Southbay Ampworks for his recommendation. I'll post his reply when I receive it.
Jim recommended the 65W M75 (small dust cap version). This is based on the information I gave him so your results may vary.

Re: first post - first build - TW LP

Tubetwang,
Thanks for the Eminence info. Sounds like I should build a few speaker cabinets so I can try some of them.

Bruce,
Thank you kindly. I think you would enjoy building it.

Re: Oh God - Please Say it Ain't So!!

Hello, I would start by opening it up and looking for burn marks, shorted wires (both to ground and to each other). Maybe de-solder the power cord and check for continuity (with a multimeter) across the power transformer primary. If it shows an open circuit (high ohm reading) then it is blown and ne...

Maybe a 5e3 tweed deluxe, ODS and/or an 18-watt would be nice also. Or I could save money and buy a ready-made Alessandro, Cornford or Bruno - but where's the fun ...

Re: first post - first build - TW LP

Thanks for the advice about the M75 and H75 speakers. I asked Jim at Southbay Ampworks for his recommendation. I'll post his reply when I receive it. Based on the specifications I was leaning toward the M75 over the H75 because of the lower efficiency (97db and 100db respectively). The large dust ca...

Re: first post - first build - TW LP

It sounds good although the high gain and the brightness takes some getting used to. I can't really comment on the PT and the OT since I haven't had experience with any others. I find I need to roll back the tone on the guitar (Strat and Tele) a bit. I have been using a PodXT and sometimes a Boss BR...

Re: first post - first build - TW LP

Thanks :). Yes that is the 4/8/16 ohm impedance selector. The knob looks different from the ones on the front because it is the Marshall-style that is supplied by Ceriatone. The front-type knobs (part 1510AH from mouser.com) didn't seem to have enough leverage to turn this rather stiff selector. Dave

first post - first build - TW LP

Hello,

Here is my first build - a Ceriatone TW LP with a Douglas Fir cabinet and rosewood faceplate. Finished with a rub-on gel coat.

Thanks for all the great info. on this site!
