Re: Power supply board - Will this work?
Hi Normster, The value of the devider resistor regulates the bass response of that part of the amp. Big value, lower emphasis and small value, higher freq emphasis. Jelle I don't understand - I thought those resistors were to equalize the voltage across the caps. How do they affect the frequency re...

Re: Dumble Power Supply Board
Well, I guess I did not explain it clearly - you would be able to just order the board, already made.
Does any one know why the diodes are not on the power supply board ?
Could they be?
I have no monetary stake in this, I am just wondering if anyone would be interested in buying one already made...

Re: MF Resistor Question
Actually, he is quite correct - some where in the post I changed the 3 to a 2. However, the equation and procedure are correct. Glad to see that you guys don't shy away from that sort of thing. I didn't say I was an engineer, but I am trying to get us thinking along those lines, (sounds like we are ...

Re: MF Resistor Question
Some clarification on the meaning of RN65. First RN65 is a military specification. Don't go looking for RN65 1 watt MF resistors, because RN65 is a 1/2 w resistor. RN65 resistors could be made by anyone - in theory they should be inter changeable. RN70 is a 1 watt mil spec resistor. The RN65 specifi...

Re: MF Resistor Question
Thanks for the welcome. I've built a few simple amps, and I'm considering a Dumble clone. Mainly because the guy was so interesting. Here's a guy who has the guitar amp world by the nuts - he could charge what ever - and what does he do ? Stop making 'em. Now that's cool. Of course, his circuits are...

Re: MF Resistor Question
The West Plate Resistors aren't available in 150K, 120K, or 180K. Good point. The Dale RN65 Resistors are true Mil spec, which means that they're overrated: the published working voltage is 350, and they are called 1/2 watt-BUT in order to be true Mil spec they must qualify for the meets or exceeds...

Re: MF Resistor Question
BTW Do NOT belive the audiophile CRAP about resisitors. (or the tube amp guys crap either, but it tends to be less outragous and more honest) Scientific tests have been done that prove the audiophiles are full of crap. Listening tests are SO unreliable for some things. For example, some percieve the...

Vishay Ok
Well, there's nothing "wrong" with Vishay metal film resistors, except that the 1 watters from mouser are only rated to 250V. This mean the voltage drop across the resistor must be less that 250V. The West ones are rated to 750V. Now, in most cases this is not a problem but in some cases it may be. ...
