Re: Inspiring vid
I have no idea what these amps are based on.
The distorted sounds were very clear and articulated for that much gain.
D amps are very clear and articulated too.

Re: Help with strat pickups
Thank you Tom.
I read that Eric Johnson pushes the magnets to some degree in some strat pickups and sometimes they break.

Help with strat pickups
I have a late eighties 57 reissue Fender strat. The original pickups have staggered poles. The first and second strings are much quieter than the rest, so much that I had to replace them, I put a Lindy Fralin blues set. These are hotter and creamier than the fenders and there's similar output from s...

Re: Lend me your ears
I prefer the sound of the Mercury Magnetics too. To me me it doesn't sound muddier than the rest, it sounds bigger. On the other hand, the way the amp is set, with low to medium gain, it benefits from the overdrive other transformers seem to be adding when playing power chords. Or maybe it's that th...

Re: How to boost volume level in Express for lead playing

Did you mod an Airbrake so you can footswitch between bypass and the first attenuated setting? If so, how is it done? Thank you. Hi Harryk. I have neve...

Re: How to boost volume level in Express for lead playing
Hi everybody. To me it seems that Harryk's friend is not asking for more overall volume but he'd like to be able to toggle between two different volumes. That way I suppose you could play with the guitar volume knob to go from clean to super saturated for rythm and also you could switch to a slightl...

Detuned speaker cabinets and Dumbles
Hello everybody. First post here. I am an spanish guitar player and soundtrack composer. I have been visiting this forum for a couple of months. Although I don't know much about electronics I'm fascinated by tube amp building, so this place has become addictive. I thank everyone here for sharing so ...
