Re: Baldwin organ amp
I found some images online the same as what I've got, mine are in better condition. This is just the power section. I'm thinking the Tweed Fender or maybe a Trainwreck build would be nice. http://i423.photobucket.com/albums/pp312/Mars-Hall/Amps/IMG_3666.jpg?t=1323886273 http://i423.photobucket.com/a...

Re: Baldwin organ amp
You need to google the Baldwin organ model number which will yield a schematic and show some data. Also, you can figure out the power supply data but knowing what it was powering for output tubes and preamps. I built one Fender type amp from a Hammond and bought two more PTs on ebay to build two mo...

Baldwin organ amp
My friend recently decided to get rid of his Great Grandma's Baldwin organ. I scrunged everything I could from it, including the 12' Magnavox speaker with alnico magnet, dated to 1955. The power section has some beefy looking transformer's, similar in size as what you would see in a 100 watt Marshal...

Re: Motorcycles and musicians
I can remember as a small child, (3 or 4 yrs old) my Dad setting me on the tank of his 67 FLH taking me around the block. Had my first bike when I was 14, a little Suzuki 100.
I now ride a 96 FLH of my own. Was rear ended on it about 6 yeras ago, rebuilt what was needed and kept on riding.

Which goes to my general, uninformed impression about Mercury Magnetics. It's like the snark about Bose: better sound through advertising. Ads out the wazoo and a premium price and lots of folks will assume it must be the best. Besides the marketing image, the only thing I've seen Mercury excel at ...

FWIW, I've learned a lot from his books and videos. At a time in my life I wanted to soak up that type of knowledge, it was the only thing available to me. I hadn't heard of Jack Darr's book until much later. Albeit, his book are sales pitches for his products, if you get past that there are some go...

Hi Mitch, How's the Hammond PT working out for you? What plate voltage did you end up with?

Re: 5F6-A builders
Hey good time to steal your thread. Where can I get a tweed cabinet the size of the Bassman with 212 cutout :?: Are you looking for a cabinet that is the same size as a bassman but with a baffle board for 2-12? If so Mojo will do it for you. I had them build me a 4-10 combo cabinet for my jtm45ri. ...

Re: 5F6-A builders
We only got the Sozo header imagine on that link. Are you going with the regular Sozo caps or there blue mold type? I have never used the Jupiter caps aren't they HiFi use mostly? Yes, I plan on using the Blue Molded caps for this build. Jupiter does have Astron replicas. Other than the HC reviews,...

I'm gonna try these.

Has any one tried those Jupiter caps? How are they? They got good reviews on HC.

Re: An interesting read...
I've done this type of conversion on 2 of my amps. A jtm45ri, that a friend converted to original specs for me and a Bluesbreaker ri that I converted myself. It was a lot of fun. Instructional wise, all you really need is a good layout. Of course Fender has theirs, Weber and Ceritone also have decen...

Re: 5F6-A builders
M Fowler, What size and configuration did you use for the filter caps on your build? Will 20uf/500v be enough for the the power section as far as voltage goes, with the stock setup? As opposed to putting them in series like the latter Blackface models.
