Re: New tubes - Alessandro

Just need some expert recommendation/advice: Have an Alessandro Working Dog Doberman. Time to change tubes. Would like to put in something that might give it some more headroom/ more high end vox type chime. EL34's and 12ax7's. Any ideas are really appreciated I have a Laney TT50H 3-Channel. I with...

Two-Channel Clean-Overdrive switching

I'm sure this has been discussed before, but my take on it.

Re: double and single turrets, Whats the differences?

I purchased my turrets from Mouser. I selected the ones that had the largest inside diameter and with the second lip. (I don't have the part number handy.) But they have worked well for me.

I thought that was the little known noise emitting diode ya had there.

Inside the Vacuum Tube - Rider - Has the best explaination of what's really going on inside. In undestandable language.

The Morgan Jones books are pretty good too.

Just got my copy of TUT (the first book). Just browsed it so far...seems to have some good stuff as well.

Re: My latest build

I was under the impression that if you used 1N4007s you needed the caps. but that the UF4007s had them built in. Gary, whats with the little disc caps across the diodes on the board on the far back right of the chassis? They are used to eliminate any switching noise that is caused by the diodes. Thi...

...maybe just a little

If I go with a 130k with the 10k pot and the 15k that's already there I can get a range of 32.1 to 57.7 volts.

Thanks

...my lack of education hasn't hurt me none...

The PT I'm using is a 300-0-300 @ 150mA. It has no additional tap for a second voltage on the primary. I think this is roughly correct... Bump the cap up to 300V or better. Replace the 1.2k with 245k, replace the 15k with a 30k. With the bias adjust centered I get 35k/285k = .1228. Then multiply by ...

Quick Question on the Hybrid-A Schematic

It may be drawn a little off but...

Is the tap for the power tube biasing just taken off of one side of the PT primary? (The same tap as one of the diode triplets?)

Just want to verify as I'm building a twist of a revision of a tweak of a Dumble clone-ish thing with input from iBob.

Re: Recording of my 3 channel amp's latest tweaks

Visited iBob on 4/15 to jam.

Had my LP Std into the 3-channel, specifically the clean dumble channel.

Sounded great...had plenty of botton without being muddy.

Re: Turret spacing question...

My current build (a P1-eX) used 1/4" minimum and it's way too tough to solder. 3/8" will be better.
