I'm looking for about 25-50' of it in 22awg to handle amp voltages...HeeBGB wrote:I have used RCA patch cables in a pinch. I think Radio Shack has 'em in singles for video applications. Just snip the ends off and go!

Re: Converting plexi clone to Cathode Bias
Thanks for the advice. The situation is that I currently have a nice plexiclone and then ran into an opportunity to pickup an identical one very cheaply. So, I figured if I could get one to have some of the brilliance of the matchless type amps with less power, it might be worth having 2 of them. I'...

Converting plexi clone to Cathode Bias
Just wondering if it's worth trying to do this.
It's got a SS rectifier and I'm measuring around 450V on the plates. I'm willing to replace the OT if necessary.

Looking for Belden 1874/U 2 conductor, shielded wire
Looking for some to do the larmar PPIMV mod. This wire seems impossible to find unless you buy in quantities of 500' or more. Anyone know where I can score 10' of it?

Re: switching plexi between shared and split cathode on V1A/V1B
There might be on the jtm45 yahoo group. If there's not, I can pull one together for you. You really want to switch the NFB too... as it will be too high for a plexi (meaning less gain) if you want to do this right. If you do all three, you will have a decent plexi sound. A switch for a solid state...

Re: switching plexi between shared and split cathode on V1A/V1B
Thanks Mickey, You have a diagram of that for amp-dummies like myself? The way the switch is currently wired (DPDT) channel 2 doesn't work in plexi mode! A SPDT switch will work, if that's all you're doing. Disconnect the jumper on V1 pin 8 to pin 3. Connect the SPDT common to pin 8 of V1. Run a wir...

What's the best switch configuration to be able to go from a JTM-45 style 250uF/820 shared cathode to .68uf/2.7k & .68 on V1?

Re: Non-HRM with toothy cleans
clips? I have no problems getting "toothy" cleans with mine using the updated layout I did based on Gil Ayan's and Scott Lerner's tweaks. My problem is that the clean is peaky. This is true of the Fuchs as well so I suspect it's inherent to the design. Two rock has a sweeter clean but their OD sound...

Re: Tranny upgrade for Ceriatone?
Jack, After hearing your "mods done" clip, I agree that the upgrade is probably not needed. Truth is, I don't know how to judge a transformer, but I was going on the perhaps misguided assumption that Nik may not have put the best ones in to keep the cost of the amps down (no offense to Nik). One of...
