Re: Redplate amps. Amazing tone

Yes sir, This amp has Henry's fx loop buffer built in the incredible small package. I dont know how he does it but its in there. Only true in a loop - the H.G sucks (French for "blows") in front of an amp Does the amp have a built in Dumbelator/ equivalent or is the preamp running directly into the ...

Re: Redplate amps. Amazing tone

Thanks!!! This one is a head unit. Its very small but feature packed. I'd say its about half the size of a regular head. I'm using the speakers in my pre reverb which are an emi RW&B and weber G1265. What sucks a$$ is this amp isn't mine. Its my little nephews. I've been selling stuff to get my own ...

Re: Redplate amps. Amazing tone

Just recorded this with the handheld room mic.Not great recording quality but you get the idea. http://soundclick.com/share?songid=8082462 This one is buzzy because of stuff rattling around the room but it show how well the amp goes into feedback: http://soundclick.com/share?songid=8082376 http://so...

Re: Check out these clips...

I think you are mising my point: That guy did record those clips in a professional studio. Not a chessy room mic with a handheld. Not a cheesy camera either. It was Mic'd( a sm 57 is great) ran into a good preamp, etc. Sounds like the setup had good converters. I actually believe in the power of goo...

Re: Check out these clips...

You wanna pay for some studio time and or buy me some multi thousand dollar mics and mic pre's? Im saying that tone sounds great but I think what really makes it nice is the recording quality which is much higher than anything I've done since I dont have pro studio. Also, I dont like to be told to s...

Re: Check out these clips...

Those clips sound great but I'd wager that I could tweak henry's amps to sound like that or even better ... I think what we are hearing has a lot to do with it actually being recorded with nice Mic's and mic pre's wheras most of the clips are just thrown up without much planning. I cant wait til I g...

Re: Redplate amps. Amazing tone

I forgot to post this clean clip with and without the mid boost.

I think this is the nicest clean tone I've had too.

The room is buzzy as hell. After I play the country lick I kick in the mid boost but never add the OD channel.

Re: Lend me your ears

what they should have done is record a clip into a cheap boss cr20xl like I have- then run that into the amp.

Thats what I do.

Heck, I do that at gigs and then walk around the room and listen to mic placement thru the mains.

Re: Lend me your ears

I hate to say this but as a player and not a builder I like the MM the least. Granted, Its hard to tell over dell speakers but I listened several times and even consulted my wife. Its not beautiful dumble tone but the MM is muddy to me.The webr is the richest to me. the MC and heyboer are a tossup b...

Re: The Dumble at lark street????

Tag, may very well have scored a Holy Grail Dumble example. He deserves it more so then anyone else I know if he did. Kudos to him for having the balls to pull the money out and hand it over in this economy. He chased his dream tone for 10+ years, defended his beliefs, ran all over creation to hear...

Re: which 12ax7 for a dumblator? Cathode follower questions-LONG

Thats intersting about the square getter sylvania. In general, in the D*lator, Do you guys like a bright tube like the EH (which sounds both hot and bright to me, Its probably 20% hotter than my other tubes) or do you like something more along the lines of a dark tube like the RFT or similar? Beside...

Re: which 12ax7 for a dumblator? Cathode follower questions-LONG

Henry told me tonight the v1 and v2 is the same but v3 is nowpreamp level and v4 is now the overdrive stage. So I dont have to worry about putting the wrong tube in v4. What's funny is yeasterday, because I love the sound of the REAL redplate build I have here that uses EH's, I decided to put EH's i...

which 12ax7 for a dumblator? Cathode follower questions-LONG

Long questions-sorry. My EH in the redplate buffer died and I want to put something in there that will last. Im curious if you guys hear a tone change between brands in that circuit? I dont want to waste my rca's if there isnt much difference there. Is the D* lator a cathode follower circuit? I have...

Re: The Dumble at lark street????

With no disrespect meant to Tag, I wonder how he expects to get the exact tone of a particular recording. When you factor in the guitar, amp, strings, tubes, mic, mic cable, mic pre's, signal path, board, recording medium, the room and a thousand other varibles , I wonder how he expects to get an exact ...
