Re: there goes the neighbourhood...
China can be both an extremely interesting and an incredibly frustrating place to be. However, the people are very hard working and very inventive. If there is a market, they will try to find a way to service it. I've seen other tube amps here that sounded pretty good. One was an SLO clone that scre...

Re: there goes the neighbourhood...
Interesting....I live in Beijing, I need to check it out first hand. Contrary to some beliefs, there acctually IS some good stuff coming out of China, the problem is most people don't see it. If I se my personal amp building experience, I would venture the following. 1. It's a copy of an existing ci...

Re: Anyone Ever Build an Amp in a Computer Case?
Thanks for the replies. I'm hoping to stuff everything inside an AT minitower case. Probably room for at least an 18W type of thing, but I've got these 60W Dynaco trannies I'd sure love to use. I can get the cases for about $10 here. I never thought of the cake pan or roasting pan. I can get those a...

Anyone Ever Build an Amp in a Computer Case?
I'm currently living in China at the moment and am considering another amp build. I have most of the parts from other builds but no chassis. Getting one here locally is next to impossible and importing one would cost a fortune. However, computer cases are dirt cheap here so I'm considering using one...

Re: two 6550 or KT88 tubes in an ODS?
FWIW, my Dynaco iron that I use for all my 50-60W 6550, KT88, EL34 and KT66 toys is 4300 ohms.

Re: Very frustrating .....components in the UK !
I feel your pain. It is next to impossible to find anything decent here in China. The worst part is, alot of the stuff is actually MADE here. However, the factories are only licensed to sell for export and, even if they did sell locally, the decent stuff is too expensive for the local market. Import...

Re: Question on 70's ODS Relay PS in this schematic...
To strictly answer your question....no, the caps are backwards. However, there are a bunch of problems with the circuit you have there. If I read this correctly, you have a dedicated 12V transformer for the relay circuit and a 12V relay. So... 1. The diode/capacitor configuration is a voltage double...
