Re: Ceratone DC30 - New Build Troubleshooting
Gah, I feel like a moron. I was certain it had to be some kind of wiring issue...I never took the shields off of the tubes to visually inspect them. The PI was cracked clean in half. I had to remove the shield socket to pull the pins out one by one from the broken tube. Replaced the PI tube and it's...

Re: Ceratone DC30 - New Build Troubleshooting
Sorry I never posted pics...I actually ran into another issue with the amp and hadn't had time to check it out. It worked for a while, then after transporting it to a friend's house for a jam, I plugged it in and no sound again. I'll need to check the voltages again (I've since lost the file I docum...

Re: Wild hair question
Tone caps...I would guess in a method similar to how the tone selector works on a DC30.

Wild hair question
I just brainstormed a small amp and thought of using a Tele control plate as an interesting cosmetic touch on the outside of the head. Any thoughts on using a Tele 3 way or Strat 5 way switch as a tone circuit selector? I thought it was awesome until I remembered how positions 2 and 4 combine poles.

Re: Small 6V6 Combo w/Reverb
So on the train of possibly stupid posts...what would be so different between a Virbolux Reverb and a Deluxe Reverb modified to run 6L6 power tubes?

Re: Small 6V6 Combo w/Reverb
Thanks for the schem. So after reading, would it be reasonable to sub in a DR power transformer, do the collection of mods, and call it a day? I understand that we're venturing away from what the PR is, but I've read good things about the combo of mods (as much as the net can provide). Or would it b...

Re: Small 6V6 Combo w/Reverb
No worries...I'd never go cheap on transformers, but I think I can save money overall by sourcing my own parts rather than buying a kit (or at least I'll feel better about it in the end). Again, this is where the dumb newb starts to come out, but what would I need to do to convert the build over to ...

Re: Small 6V6 Combo w/Reverb
I've modded some amps in the past (nothing intrusive, some basic tone stack mods, transformer swaps, etc). I just finished building the Matchless DC-30 kit from Ceriatone...other than missing the rectifier wiring by 1 pin, I didn't make any huge mistakes with the build. I've built tons of effects pe...

Re: Small 6V6 Combo w/Reverb
Remove reverb from a fender circuit? I might be a heathen, sir, but I'm not aiming to take over the throne! I was aiming to leave the control panel as clean as possible, and I usually don't use tremolo much anyway. I'll think about it.
I'll look into the Rockster too.

Re: Small 6V6 Combo w/Reverb
Thanks for the nudges in the direction I was already thinking would be the logical choice. I apologize for being a bit daft when it comes to navigating the site, but I like the idea of stuffing a Deluxe Reverb combo into a smaller cabinet, but I've never had the opportunity to play a Princeton. I'm ...

Small 6V6 Combo w/Reverb
Just for grins... I've been bitten by the amp building bug. I'm a big fan of my little Blues Jr, but I'd like to have something to toy around with. I was thinking of buying another BJr combo and ripping the guts out to use as a project. Is there anything around that has 6V6s and reverb that would li...

Apologies if this is kind of obvious, but any notes on this amp? I've often contemplated building a simplified Deluxe Reverb that's had a little "goosing up" work done to it.

Re: Ceratone DC30 - New Build Troubleshooting
Can't quite crank it up yet. Hopefully I'll get a chance this weekend. The amp is pretty noisy with the chassis open though.
I just ordered a head shell from gabkits. I'm very happy to have this amp complete. Now let the mods begin!

Re: Ceratone DC30 - New Build Troubleshooting
After reviewing the wiring many more times, I found the 5V wiring for the rectifier was off by 1 pin. I corrected that, and now the beast is indeed alive. Thanks to everyone for the quick replies...it seems I just needed to sleep on it and take another gander at the whole thing.
