Re: Just blew up my Peavey Classic 30

Thanks everyone for the replys. :D

The fuses are good.

I pulled the chassis out of the cab and realized I'm in over my head. I've built 1 amp (RJ's eagle) and that is it... it's off to a tech with more experience with a classic 30.

Thanks.

Re: Just blew up my Peavey Classic 30

And you guys are right. The tube was broken before the power was turned on. Most commonly from turning your combo into a suitcase/toolbox/cable storage. Just the facts, ma'am.. (stumbles off yammering) Tubes were brand new ( about a week old) The amp had been sitting in the same place for 2 weeks, ...

Re: Just blew up my Peavey Classic 30

Nope. Open amp up. Look at output tube sockets. V4. Look the big resistor across the socket. See the little one below it? You have toasted screen grids. Leave the amp off til you replace both of them with new ones, and while you are at it replace the big ones above those too with a couple watts hig...

Re: The Eagle Supre - Big SE Amp

OK, I have yet another question for you guys. For the tone bypass, I recieved in the kit a 3 terminal switch ( on/off/on) I know the middle terminal I solder the 22k resister and run that to ground then either of the outer terminals I run to the .022uf cap for the bass. What can I do with the...

Re: Eagle Supre 1st Start-up... Voltages & problems- FIXED!!

Problem solved!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I removed the wire to pin 3 & 2 of the power tube, cut the ends off and tinned them, cleaned the two pins on the tube socket and resoldered them and that fixed my problem. :D I did check voltage at pins 1/8 to see what my voltage was and with the tube in, my volta...

Eagle Supre 1st Start-up... Voltages & problems- FIXED!!

So I finished my Eagle Supre build this week and built my Lightbulb limiter. So today I decided to fire the amp up and see if I screwed anything up. Well the lightbulb got bright for a split second and then dimmed to a very soft glow.(SUCCESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) I then took voltage readings and...

Hey Zippy,

Thanks for the tip.

Re: The Eagle Supre - Big SE Amp

Well those caps are pretty easy to replace if the cap is bad after the board is installed. Depends on how melted it is. If it is a cosmetic sear, its probably fine but those caps I don't think are that durable and it is likely toast. But depending on where you're at in the build you might want to r...

Re: The Eagle Supre - Big SE Amp

Hey Guys, I got my board loaded and was wondering if I can get a set of eyes to see if I made any mistakes. There dry mounted right now. I don't have all my leads on it yet... but that will me next. Also on the white coupling caps, I don't know if there orientated correctly. I did'nt see any way of...

Re: The Eagle Supre - Big SE Amp

Hey Guys, I have another question, I was thinking of using 20AWG solid wire for my grounds instead of the 18AWG stranded I recieved with the kit. I was wondering if that would be ok? I also assume I would need to remove the 18AWG that I soldered in allready or could I leave that in and do the the re...

Re: The Eagle Supre - Big SE Amp

Hey Guys, thanks for all the input. Structo, Thanks for the link.
