I punch all the holes I need with two Greenlee knockout punch tools (about a $60 investment) and a cheap set of step drill bits from Harbor freight ($9-19 depending upon sale). I put a set of holes in a piece of scrap metal so I can easily match up the tube socket to whichever tool I need to use. I ...

OK, maybe this is a minor thing, but orange drops tend to be too darn big to fit into the small builds I make. Mallorys sound decent to me and are much easier to fit into a small chassis (I'm a point-to-point builder)

Hey, Also new to forum. I have had good luck lately building small practice amps using 12FX5 tubes. I just finished a 5F2A"ish" amp with one 12FX5 instead of the 6V6.
