Re: Mayer on Conan

Now if he could just stop making "baby crapping his diaper" faces. Too funny and perfect description, but come on that face is too much. When the face distracts the viewer/listener, how good is the playing--or how bad is the face. I haven't seen this clip yet, I'm going from the Crossroads stuff, w...

Re: Which Mini Switches?

Yes, I agree wjdumham, I think getting the trannies and chassis from Brown Note is a great starting point. I just have to do something with this Old Flame to make it worthwhile to me. Worst case scenario would be I re-build the Old Flame if I can't make it go as a D-lite. I've just ordered most of t...

Re: Which Mini Switches?

Since I built the Old Flame, I probably wouldn't get very much out of it when compared to the cost; it was a pretty expensive kit. So my thinking was, if I could turn it into the amp I had hoped the Old Flame would be, that would make the amp worth my time, effort and money. It's the great overdrive...

Re: Which Mini Switches?

Well, now you're making me think again! Yes, the Old Flame does sound nice, but I have a Deluxe Reverb and Super Reverb and the Old Flame seems quite similar to my ears. Maybe I'll give the Old Flame another chance and see if I should start hunting for a chassis and tranformers for the D-lite. Decis...

Re: Which Mini Switches?

Thanks Tom! I believe it was your D-lite sound clips that made me want to build a D-lite. I'm actually going to re-build an Allen Old Flame into a D-lite. I hope this is not out of my league, but I'm pretty sure I can do it.
Thanks again,
Dennis

Re: Which Mini Switches?

Thanks Brownnote! I appreciate your help! Just to clarify, is the DPDT an ON-ON-ON or an ON-ON Switch?
Thanks again,

Which Mini Switches?

Hi, I'm getting ready to order parts to build a D-lite. Do I need two SPDT on-on and one DPDT on-on-on? Is this right? Thanks for your time!

Re: Dumbleland tone from a D'Lite kit?

Hey Tonefishin, Check out the thread, "Question about strat tone through non hrm." Posted by rutledg on page 2. Listen to Stelligan's clip using a strat with his DLite 22 (6v6's). I think his amp is a Brownnote as well, you'll have to ask. You can hear him changing pickups and getting, what I think,...

Re: Which Transformers to buy for a D-Lite 22

Thanks Luthierwnc, More food for thought and makes sense. I was wondering about the general overdrive qualities of the dumble design and wondered about how hard the OT was pushed to get the desired overdrive sound. Maybe I should be planning a D-Lite 44 build. Can one use 6V6's with a simple bias ad...

Re: Which Transformers to buy for a D-Lite 22

Thanks Tom, I may do that, but I would like to learn more about what the specs are and maybe source them myself as I buy the other parts. I thought I read that a Deluxe Reverb output transformer is right for the job and I have one of these on hand. Thanks again,

Which Transformers to buy for a D-Lite 22

Which transformers are "drop-in" for a D-Lite 22 build? I'd really appreciate exact type/part numbers for correct spec. trannies for a D-Lite 22 as I'm still pretty new to amp building. I liked the bluesy Strat clips I heard from Stelligan's D-Lite 22, so maybe he or someone that knows that amp can ...

Re: Question about strat tone through non hrm

Thanks Stelligan,
I will check for the tweaked info. I believe I've already copied a layout with the tweaks. Thanks again for the clip that helps me to know what version I want to build. I'm pretty new to building, so I'm glad it's the relatively simple build.

Re: Question about strat tone through non hrm

Stelligan, Your Strat tones through the D'Lite are THE Strat tones I've been looking for. Your clip reinforces my belief that I need to build a D'lite to get the Strat tones I like best. These tones can't be had through a Blackface Fender and Tubescreamer, can they? I've never done it. Thanks! Dennis

Highway 31, that's truly a work of art. Your photos on the 18 watt site inspired me to do my best on my 18 watt and now this. Amazing attention to visual detail. Thanks for sharing!
