Re: Guitar "samples" for testing purposes
This is something that i am also looking to do. My son has always helped me test the amps. He is getting older and is not as available to help. He works as a sound tech with access to equiptment. I would love to have something like this to do initial tests on new builds but someone in the past told ...

Re: new 2XEL84 Rocket
Thanks Talentubes,
Seems like I may have had a bit more voltage but sounds like you were very happy with the 15 watt OT. It's a bit more cost using production Iron but It will be nice to have some consistency.

Which Edcor Transformers did you use
Ive always built using old iron but in order to keep things more consistant i've been thinking of going to standard iron. Seems like Edcor may be the best without breaking the bank. I have a couple two hole rockets with the old iron and i have two more to build. What models of PT and OTs dis you use...

Re: Rocket Dog build log
Nice build. Ever work on any Traynor amps? I was really surprised at the high voltage he designed those amps to run at. Probably why I had to replace the power tube sockets. :) I used 300-0-300 for about three Rocket type amps and they are still purring nicely. Now days I reduced my amps to 280-0-2...

Re: Express hum and noise.
My rocket is pretty quiet. Just some hiss with the gains maxed and treble maxed. Does grounding impact hiss or only hum?

Re: Any interest in trainwreck style cabs?
I enjoy doing my own finishing but I'd love to purchase the cherry box. What do you think you would charge for that?

Additional scope traces (PI -Output traces)
Views of the PI compared to the Output at 25%, 50%, 75% and 100% gain. Look like the output starts distorting immediately. Not sure if it is from the PI or if the Output stage is distorting directly. Also there is a kink in the wave form at 100%

Additional Scope Traces (PI traces)
The attached traces are showing the Phase inverter at 30%, 60% and 100% gain. Looks like the PI starts distorting right away.

Express Scope Traces - too much gain?
The format of my message and screen captures were modeled after a post that Rob (rbryerton) placed back in 2010. Currently I have some ghosting\fuzz that I need to resolve. Also I will be modifying this build to get a bit of a cleaner output because this was the goal of the person I’m building for. ...

Re: Dirty Little Monster
My problem is that i've never heard a Trainwreck. Only computer clips. I've build several SE AX84 el34 amps and I'm just looking for something different. Should be easy because I'm going to mod an existing amp that I don't use

WOW... that build is just way to neat and tidy. I thought I was getting better. Your build may either motivate me or make me quit.

Re: Box joint jig plans
I have to check with some of the local wood shops. I'd easily pay that.
