Re: V1 Microphonic.
I would love to try polystyrene in lieu of the Silver Mica, but nobody in Australia (that I can find) carries them, and, unless I put a huge stock order in to the U.S. to justify the expense, it's going to cost me big $$$ to bring in 6 X 500pF caps, so I can't try that option as much as I'd like to...

Re: Trademark Infringement
Well, that is my point.......Jimmy Page did not play a Trainwreck. How would you flood a market that does not exist. Les Paul's were made by the tens of thousands. There were only a few hundred Wrecks made. Late 50s LPs only amount to a few thousand guitars if that and their popularity didn't come ...

Re: Trademark Infringement
Fenders, Marshalls, Peaveys ..etc are all made in the thousands on production lines with identifying serial numbers and chassis stamps to track them, more difficult to copy. If you design something cheap enough and offer it at an affordable price, it will discourage competition to copy it. Trainwrec...

Re: Attenuators for the Express.
Yes that's correct.
I want to use the Express for rehearsals but its just too loud when I need some gain. Using it at home would be nice too.
Might still be a better idea to build one as I've noticed only one of the units is shipping outside the U.S.

Attenuators for the Express.
Hi guys. I am looking around for an airbrake and noticed several Dr Z Brake - Lite units on ebay, was just wondering if this would be suitable enough for the Express design being that it is around 35 watts and this particular airbrake model handling 45 watts. I know that a fully dimed tube amp will ...

Re: Ghost notes.
Hi Folks. I still have this problem and I have swapped valves to GT EL34-M ( great sounding valves btw. ). The filter caps are new but at this stage I'm ready to swap them out. Is it possible that the grounding wire I used may be contributing to the problem ? I am not using solid core for the ground...

Re: Ghost notes.
I just redone several connections that I thought had too much solder or looked suspicious, could not find any unusual readings on the multimeter and all grounds are fine. After listening to the amp closely today, I'm wondering whether or not these are just even order overtones produced by the valves...

Re: Ghost notes.
About the Sheffields, there are not that many people who use them, so it's more difficult to get a lot of information about those speakers. I wish I still had that 5150 head to test through my cab. One thing to note from the pictures is that the wire I used on the speaker jacks isn't shielded. The c...

Re: Almost Done with head cab... Feet and bolts?
My chassis is the Ceriatone chassis, it came with the square nuts which slot into the chassis. The bolts that came with the kit are the same as M6 bolt used in Marshalls, same threading and size.... so you can use those.
I drilled the holes in my cab slightly oversized and washers to cover.

Re: Ghost notes.
I've just tested the express in another box loaded with Celestions and it is still happening. Just to describe the problem once again, it is more pronounced high on the neck especially when neck pickup is on. In my case the subharmonic tone is is pretty close to the actual note but the further up th...

Re: Ghost notes.
Hi rfgordon.
The speakers are Peavey Sheffield 1200's, these were designed to sound like worn out Greenbacks, that's what EVH wanted. So perhaps these speakers will exhibit cone cry as well.

Re: Ghost notes.
Thanks for the replies. I tried moving the amp away from the speaker box and I it didn't make a difference. I'm wondering if there is a good method to use in order to find the bad speaker(s) ? Sometimes I hear a scratchy noise ( like when you connect the terminals of a 9v battery to a small speaker ...
