Re: two channels/one cathode follower
thanks for reply - I,ve tried a mosfet CF but it doesnt sound the same to my ears , and yes it's the compression/sound of the CF that I like the idea was to have a clean sound separate from a marshally - OD sound in the same amp but I cant get the clean sound how I want - the answer would be to just...

two channels/one cathode follower
hi all - can someone with greater experience than me please cast an eye over the following schematic to see if it'll successfully switch between two separate tone stacks on the single cathode follower - any pops/issues ? and are the 100k mix resistors enough on the outputs of the 2 master volumes ? ...

Re: one cathode two tone stacks ?
thanks lauri that's very helpful - does the extra capacitor effect the sound in any way ?

one cathode two tone stacks ?
has anyone experience of using two tone stacks from a single cathode ? any interactions between channels/pops on switching over ? I was trying to build a channel-switching marshall type amp and wanted separate tonestacks for the clean and overdrive [trying to save putting an extra valve in ] - can s...

Re: ODS output transformer
thanks for tubetown suggestion but that'd double the price , and I have to buy a new set of valves for the amp anyway so 6L6 or EL34 fine

ODS output transformer
hi all - anyone have an opinion on the following OT question ? I'm using some basler trannies from a 100w peavey deuce [474v@30mA] , for a 102/183 type ODS but the OT only has 4ohm output , I have a 1x12 cab with a 16ohm G12-65 - everything I do I gets miced up so not really at risk of blowing it , ...

Re: transformer check
yes I've not checked the primary impedance , should I maybe try a high wattage sag resistor before the choke ? - every time I've tried those things in the past it reduces the voltage significantly but causes a worrying amount of heat - is there any other way of reducing the potential for red-plating...

transformer check
hi all - just need a safety check on transformers - I'm using the trannies from a peavey classic VT 50 [schematic included] and I've made a kind of JCM800 with EL34's instead of the 6L6's that the peavey trannies were designed for - it sounds great and I'm getting 476v @ 31.8mA on the plates and usi...

transformer w/voltage doubler
hi all - need some advice on the following transformer thanks - it's meant to be for a dumbleator 2 can I tie-off the centre tap then use the conventional voltage doubler dumbleator power supply ? I understand i'll probably have to fiddle with the dropping string values - it's just the doubler aspec...

Re: peavey transformers
ah right so does that mean I have to have the same rectification circuit after the diodes before I connect it to pin 7 of first 6L6 then from pin 2 of same valve to the next 6L6's pin 7 and so on until I get to the 12ax7's ? and I have to use the three 100uf 50v capacitors just for the serially-conn...

peavey transformers
hi all - I've just got a bargain peavey valve king 100 so going to use it as donor amp for next bluesmaster type build - I've measured the unloaded mains transformer and it has HT - 350V , next tap that peavey are using for rectified heaters and other stuff is 27V , and bias is 80V - I think the bia...
