Marshall Chassis plans/prints

Does anyone have blueprints/plans for a JTM45, or a 50W plexi chassis or both?

I really don't have the cash to put out for a chassis, but fabrication is one of my trades specialties 8)

Re: question regarding B+ voltages and it's effect on the sound

Yes I'm a member there too.

I guess what I'm asking is if I can use a plexi spec turret board in the amp at my existing voltages, and if I can, can I expect to sound decent, or should I just plan on adding caps to bring my voltages up.

Re: question regarding B+ voltages and it's effect on the sound

With a wall voltage of 112v, my secondary is putting out 292v, at the first filter cap I have right around 408v.

Books I've read say to use 1.4 as a multiplier for a SS rectifier, slightly lower for tube rectifiers, like 1.1** to calculate B+.

question regarding B+ voltages and it's effect on the sound

How does the B+ effect the final sound of an amp? Example. I have a Jackson JG2 50w that I want to convert to a 50w plexi. My B+ is 400v, which is considerably less than that of a plexi. I want to think that if I gut everything between the rectifier and the output section and replace all to plexi sp...

Re: Going from schematic to physical layout

Right now I'm working on a 1960 Airline 9002, which is very similar to a Champ circuit, but the tubes are a 6v6GT, 6X5GT rectifier, and a 6AU6 preamp. Problem is that I cannot find any info on this amp, but found a schematic for an Airline 9012 which appears to be the same with the exception of 2 re...

Going from schematic to physical layout

Can anyone point me in the right direction, or to a book that addresses coming up with a physical layout from a schematic. I've just read the Torres, Weber, and Funk books, but unless my brain is on overload (I've read em all over the past week), none of the books explain how to go about it. I know ...

Re: recommend a good DMM??? That won't break the bank??

I second the Fluke. Look for an 87 with a weak display. You can get the new elastomers/contacts to fix for $10, and it's easy to do. Actually the fix is most often times free. I have an 87 that had a weak display. My employer had a vendor show, and RS electronics had a Fluke Rep in their booth. He ...

Re: Anybody Check Out the Amp Showcase in Detroit?

It was like Guitar Center, BUT .......Better Gear, better players (older too). and no obnoxious music blaring over the top of it all. No Dumbass Salespunks either! Oh yeah, it was really loud! I was suprised to see Glen Kuykendall there, what a player! The Egnater Rebel was the hit for me. so small,...

Re: Did you guys read this?

In regards to who owns the Trainwreck name, I found the info here: http://tess2.uspto.gov/bin/showfield?f=doc&state=m9474d.2.7 Seeing that Ken owned it, one would assume that his estate owns it until it expires. As to how long the Trademark is good for: "For a trademark registration to remain valid,...

Re: Top ten reasons to build your own tube amps

18. Cant afford $30,000 - $50,000 for a Dumble or a Trainwreck, and not gonna pay $2,000 - $3,000 for someone else's version when I can build it for $1,000 or less!

Some will call it being cheap, I call it Economic Common Sense!
