Re: MESA BOOGIE DUAL RECTIFIER build

I built a SLO Clone as my first build with a turret layout and managed to pull it off for the most part. I didnt get the switching to work, but easily could have if I didnt have to go off to college. Join the SLO Clones forum as they have schematics, layouts, parts lists etc. They also have schemati...

Re: New ODS-101-HRM layout

I have a question.

Is there any reason why the presence resistors and capacitors are mounted on the board? It seems to me like that just introduces more wire than is needed. Must it be this way, or will it work otherwise?

Re: Awful Breakup Noise, could this be power tubes?

Well, I think it is lead dress, but could be a loose socket pin. I started moving around wires and it began working fine. No hum or oscillations from what I can tell. I still may move the grid resistors however. The board is only an inch or so from the preamp tubes, and the SLO has a counterintuitiv...

Re: Awful Breakup Noise, could this be power tubes?

Yes others have used this layout with good results. The noise is occurring in the power stage, as it happens when I plug into the effects return, and the signal coming from the preamp sounds fine. Other than the breakup, the amp is quiet. There was a time when it was working and sounded fine. Shield...

Re: Awful Breakup Noise, could this be power tubes?

I used the schematic and layout here (click on slo docs): http://homepage.mac.com/WebObjects/FileSharing.woa/wa/default?user=gaden&templatefn=FileSharing15.html&xmlfn=TKDocument.15.xml&sitefn=TKSite.2.xml&aff=consumer&cty=US&lang=en For the power tubes, the screen and grid resistors are on the tube....

Re: Awful Breakup Noise, could this be power tubes?

Well, I replaced the power tubes, and discovered that between the cathode follower and the master volume that the wave is clipping abnormally. I noticed this occuring across the treble capacitor, so I replaced it. Although it looks better across this particular cap, the breakup noise still occurs. I...

Relay Schematic Question

I'm planning on doing a dual eq ODS, so I will need two relays to be activated by one switch. Here is the original thread where I got this from https://tubeamparchive.com/viewtopic.php?t=3559&highlight=relay+schematic+panel Does this look like it would work? Since I have two relays being activated b...

Re: Wire Propaganda or more fragile harmonics mumbo jumbo?

I know a dielectric constant was how much a capacitor's capatitance increases when a dielectric is inserted. Basically its an insulator that polarizes, increasing the charge a capacitor can hold. I guess it would make sense that an insulator that gets less polarized would be better, but would it mak...

Re: HRM Clips

I plan on doing a lot of tweaking, and it would be nice to have a cab like that, except I prefer tubes up. I guess turning it over wouldnt be too bad.

Upcoming ODS Project

It may be awhile before I start this, but I am planning on doing an ODS-101 with a few tweaks. 1. Dual EQ- Basically, I will have another relay to switch tone stacks, which includes the bright, deep, and mid switches. I will probably have a common PAB. Also, I want seperate input volume controls, ra...

Re: HRM Clips

Any more tips on getting that much gain out of a ODS? These videos have pushed me over the edge to do a D-Clone for my next project. I love the traditional Dumble sound, but was worried about not getting enough punch. Thanks for the videos, and I would appreciate any more insight on getting the gain...

Yes the pins are the ones normally missing. I tested them by putting them in my SLO clone.
