Re: Two nonHRM clips
Nothing sucky about the playing. Tonewise, I liked the 6L6 clip better.

Re: Non HRM vs. HRM
I have to agree. Non-HRM. It's just smoother and more pleasant to the ears. But the HRM clip is closer to the non-HRM than in past clips.

Re: Lend an ear please. I like this tone....
Definitely on the right track, Scott. Best tone I've heard from you in a long time. But maybe try a Tele for a proper comparison?? :D Great playing, as usual. Greg (The more I listen to this clip, the more I like the tone.) Hi guys, I just recorded this clip this morning. This is HRM with no Bluesma...

Re: Get fat, no buzz from HRM amp. Read if you are deperate...
Scott - I saw Robben and Larry live back in August. From where I was sitting (middle of the theater), Robben's OD tone was dark and got lost a little in the mix. When I had my Glaswerks, the 90's voice was too bright , which was part of the reason I didn't like it. On my site here, the song "New Cre...

Re: Get fat, no buzz from HRM amp. Read if you are deperate...
OK, but on Jing Chi I still hear thick mids and a darker tone. I don't mean this as any sort of argument. I'm only saying that Robben's HRM tone is darker to my ears. I wanted to add that Robben's tone has thick mids and is darker than I've heard from other's HRM clips (e.g., "I've Got A Mind To Giv...

Re: Get fat, no buzz from HRM amp. Read if you are deperate...
Scott - I completely respect all the amp builders on this forum. But I think you misunderstood my post. I have read not just this one thread, but others where guys have voiced frustration with HRM amps. I have also read where people have set their trimmers (other than that, as you know, I have no cl...

I wanted to add that Robben's tone has thick mids and is darker than I've heard from other's HRM clips (e.g., "I've Got A Mind To Give Up Living" - very dark). Maybe that's part of his secret?? I've read where some people have the mids and bass set low, while their treble is set pretty high. I don't...

Re: Get fat, no buzz from HRM amp. Read if you are deperate...
I've been reading the threads where people say they can't get a decent strat tone with HRM - or that they just don't like HRM. I believe Robben Ford uses HRM. But he also uses a strat on Jing Chi 3D - and his tone is excellent. He also uses a tele with HRM, and again, excellent tone. In fact, his te...

I just saw this. I like the mids better turned up.

How would it sound with the mids turned up? Personally, I like thicker mids . .dogears wrote:HRM was set with treble about 47%, mids only on about 20%, and bass only on about 25%.

Re: PU question for dogears
Having used both Wolfetone and High Order, I would recommend High Order. Both Jeff and Wolfe are great guys to deal with. But the end result is what counts.
Scott, I think you're going to really like your High Order pickups.
They'll be on their way today . .

I definitely like clip 2 better than 1. I personally don't like the hair.
