Re: 5200 ohm or 6600 ohm what's the difference soundwise?
But has anyone compared the Ceriatone clone against a clone with Toneslut transformers volume wise? I have all-Ceriatone clone myself. I would like to play my clone on full power even with 6V6's but all I can do is play it in triode mode cause the pentode operation with 6V6 get too loud for almost a...

Re: express: swap the 1k/25w resistor for a choke or more?
I have ceriatone clone of express and I ordered it with a choke first. The amp was very noisy and humming in my home but as I plugged it in a place with a proper AC grounding most of the hiss and hum disappeared. About half years ago I tried the resistor in place of the choke and I didn't notice muc...

Re: Express Combo Rehearsal Initial Report
about the RFI... i had same issue with my ceriatone. First I tried the capacitor from input jack ground to the chassis nearby and it solved the problem. At another time I tried the input grid resistor (22 kohms in my case and the capacitor mentioned was also in its place) and I felt that something h...

Re: Sensitivty of V1
I have had 3 gigs now and 2 out of them I could use my xpress clone with 2x6V6. I installed Penta labs ax7 to the V1 position (mullard reissue V2 and balanced sovtek ax7 V3). It worked the first gig. I have master and a half power switch also. Amp was on half power and master at 3 o'clock (could not...

Re: Super Wreck???
I play express clone and drop D guitar in a heavier alternative rock band and really like it with volume on 5-6/10. The agressivness and heaviness comes from playing. The soundclips here were way over compressed and outgained for my tastes... but hey that may work for some folks so keep on going and...

So first there is the hum when i'm not touching strings, then i touch them and hum decre...

Re: Express touchy?
Ok, so I did that, I connected the cathode side to the input jack ground and it did not help. I put 39 Kohm resistor to the input pin and soldered input coax cable to that.. it didnt help either .. only I seemed to have a feeling that the amp didnt sound as transparent as before... but the hum issue...

Re: Express touchy?
... Another trick I use is to ground the input tube cathode directly to the ground of the input jack, that should eliminate ground loop hum on that jack. excuse me, as i'm having hum issues with my clone... can you even do that? I mean, cathode has some components before it goes to ground does'nt i...
